Why can't I find a Haynes manual for a '91 944S2?

It would be fine to get one but your engine compartment will be completly different than the one they show how to repair. and your brakes, and your suspension, interior etc. the photos and descriptions are for an early 944 so some of the descriptions include what to look for on a late model. I am not sure if electrical things on a S2 are the same as a early 944, or a late for that matter. I am not sure if the headlight electrics and the wiper assembly is the same or not. for 15 bucks you will at least know what parts are interchangeable with your car by the photos. If you really want to get complicated you could get the porsche manuals specific to the S2.

By "porsche manuals specific to the S2" do you mean the ones directly from Porsche? Sounds pricey.
Also I've looked on ebay with no luck...as far as S2 specific manuals.
Thanks again!

If you read the thing you will probably reach the same conclusion I did, Haynes more or less stopped at the pre-85.5 944 NA.
But it is OK for the common stuff. If you get serious you want the factory manuals. Just so happens there are a couple guys here that are burning the CDs for free. I'll let them get ahold of you as I don't want to get in the crosshairs of Porsche attorneys that have some spare billable hours. <img src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" />

A lot of the info in the Haynes will still apply to the S2, but you'll have to the one to sort out what doesn't....wiring dagrams will be next to useless, I expect. The one I've got claims to cover the Turbo... and then basically says that servicing the turbo system should be taken to the dealer... .
I still (occasionally) find useful info in it that applies to the 968. But if you want the straight skinny, get the factory manuals... even if you buy the full-price printed set, they'll save you more than their cost by far, if you do any serious DIY wrenching.

Edit... Well, we now know who the slowest typist is...

I use a combination of the Haynes manual, the factory manual (on CD from Ebay )), Rennlist, the 944 garage (the revised site is not fully up yet), and the 944 FAQ. I have not run up against a problem I could not figure out. That said, some things I leave to my mechanic.

rpm's S2 said kind of what I was thinking....
I've got that "manual on CD" that's been floating around. I've printed that out...(that's a lot of paper) Then I have access to be able to take the actual factory manuals up to kinko's or something and get those copied..(if that's possible). And then I've printed out just about everything I could find on the net. From the 944 Garage, 944S2.com, and several other odd pages. It's quite a collection. Just a bit of work to put together.
But it would be nice to just get one manual for the car. Just for that peice of mind.

I have the manuals as well as the CD and many bookmarked websites.
In my opinion there is no substitute for the manuals, they are far easier to browse than the CD and not all of the procedures for doing work on the car has been posted. I have noticed in the write-ups that the torque values are often missing or are for a different model of 944. The S and S2 are peculiar and unique beasts with many subtle variations from the N/A and Turbo models.
To bad the CD is not searchable, that would have been the ultimate.
Anyway, if you do get the manuals you will need the basic set as well as the Turbo supplement. The Turbo supplement covers the brakes, tranny (I think), as well as the body of the S2.

yes... too bad indeed...
As for the original question:

Simple... they felt sorry enough for all the misinformation in the first rendition, they decided to let professionals handle anything further... The real question is why Bentley never thought the 924-944-968 series important enough to cover
