Default Turbo manifold/throttle body and more in N/A

I know selling my n/a and buying a turbo is cheaper, but im trying to get the most out of my 2.5 and I like the fact an '83 was the lightest of all 944s, so Ive heard. I was talking to some 944 racers at a meet and turns out I can install a turbo radiator into my 944. Turbo cylinders and fuel injectors can also be installed too i guess. But i was wondering if a turbo intake manifold and throttle body would be able to fit if I fabricate my own air filter system with a cone. Is it possible? Also, what else can be switched over from a turbo? Turbo parts from LR? Or is just cheaper to buy a turbo engine?

All replies are appreciated.

manifold will bolt onto the 944 head and the throttle body would attach to that, but honestly theres no reason to do that. the turbo manifold is designed to be optimized for a turbo car.

just buy the full turbo engine.

I'm pretty sure they're identical when it comes to performance, the turbo one is just angled different to make space for the IC piping.

The turbo is an inferior unit. It has to be done for packaing. But, for an intake manifold, you want as few turns as possible, and the last thing you want is for the manifold to change directions, or as we call it in the industry, making an "s" turn. When the air turns, you will get a density and a velocity profile through the turn. It takes a straight section four times the inner diameter to recover before you should turn again. If you do it before, you get turbulence, and a vena contracta, choking flow. Porsche obviously found that the tuning gained in cylinders 2, 3, and 4 (especially 4) was more beneficial than the loss from that S turn. But, the C shaped runners on the NA's are a much better design.

Dont waste your time or money.
Just cause it fits, don't mean it's right.

Enjoy your car for what it is.

not at all, the front of the car was changed to fit ic piping, the manifold was optimized for boost efficiency and maintaining driveability.
