On my VW it's on the water neck on the back/right side of the head.

On the 944 it's on the little pipe coming off the head by the #1 cylinder.

I've wondered what that was as mine is just broken off and not connected (the rabbit ears in the picture) to anything. I seem to run fine. What's the harm of not having that connected?

Interesting. We don't do emissions testing in MN, so I don't know where I sit wrt that. If the rabbit ears are busted off, am I better off
1) Sealing it, so it is perpetually closed (?)
2) Leaving it open, so it is perpetually open (?)
3) Fixing it (I need to address oil seepage at High RPM around Air Oil separator) although not sure what I'd connect it to as there are no loose vacuum lines begging for a connection
4) Pretending I'd never noticed it was broken.

Yeah, I meant #4. I was looking at a head sitting on the bench and I got all turned around.

I'm not sure I've owned a car where it is hooked up properly.
