FWIW my car had a salvage title when i bought it, nothing was wrong with it (at the time) but the guy just wanted to park it..

it now has a rebuilt salvage title since it has been reregistered for the road. no accidents, ever.

Uggh - a tip? Another strike against it if you ask me

Its a auto... Ouch. Well personal choice. That sounds like a 5k car to me.

The red flag for me is that it has been re-titled out of state. This is called "washing" the title. Before carfax this was done frequently to pass off a rebuild as a clean titled car. Fwiw, in some states there is a difference between a salvage title and a junk title. A junk title states that the vehicle is to be destroyed and can't be rebuilt and re-titled. However, I have been told that the state of Ms, for example, will let a junk title through. The fact that it was totaled when it was only 4 years old would be a concern as well. If I were you I would inspect it very closely and only buy if it was for keeps or parts.

Thanks for all the input.

The plan is to keep her. I don't plan to race, thus the CAB so auto versus 6spd is not a factor for me unless there are some reliability issues with the tiptronic.

The seller has agreed to allow the PPI and I have already given the garage a heads up about the title history so they are prepared to really give the body and frame a hard look.

Don't plan on paying $6500 either!

Good news, problem solved. Someone from GA bought it. Hope they did/do a PPI.

Thanks for all the input.
