In order of accumulation:
1990 BMW 525I, bought it new and will never give it up. Has a rebuilt motor, chipped motor and trans and much much to much cash buried in it.

1989 Isuzu Trooper known as the Beast. Bought it so I could haul stuff around have abused it for over 100k, hate it so it will go away soon.

1983 944 known as either the Beast II or POS, bought it for something to do as a de-stress project as my wife thinks I need to stay busy and leave her the H*%l alone. Rebuilt motor, suspension, brakes, and anything else that can be removed, have buried more cash than a decent 951 would cost and really dont care.

2003 C240- it is hers, she pays for it and I stay away so when she gets tired of it I dont end up with it (see 1&2 above).

Along the way I have flushed 2 911's, a 924, a couple E-30 bimmers and a few other toys and now I am actively hunting for another project car. Anybody got a BMW 850 they want to sell?

Well Ya gonna make me do it.
83 944 with 92k miles on it. First Porsche I have
ever owned, age 49 here, got it last Oct after
beating arround in a worn out 85 Jetta I picked up
for $400 when we got back from a 6 month cruise.
Jetta blew front tire, shifter was shot, couldnt
find first gear most the time and front suspension
was flopping all over the place. Wanted a FUN car
to drive back and forth to work. Looked at
Miata's, too small, 6'3" you know, looked at
Dodge Stelth and Mitzu 3000, HATE wrong wheel
drive, Triumph TR-6 Ok but anything decent was
too expensive....Soooo started looking at Porsche's. Found this Sweet 83 and have been
happier than a pig in **** since then. No other
cars at this time, just a 40Ft. Marine Trader
trawler that was home since 1991, moved ashore Oct
1 so can remodel/paint the boat. My gal has a
83 Mecredes 240D with 250 plus k miles on it and
is still tight as a drum, guess that's what made
me go for German engineering.
Thats about it,
Bill

86 944 see right
Bought Fall of 88 as the primary car through college... Been to hell and back, TWICE. Now in the process of gradually turning into just a weekend autoXer and track car. Love beating that thing!

NEW 2003 Jetta GLI, everything but the leather. Wow what torque, entirely too much power. That will keep the smile on my face and can haul friends and junk around, plus slugs through the snow rather nicely. I can mod the heck out of it and still not touch the motor, thus why I didn't get the 1.8T.

VTEC this one rice boy!

Lets see.. 89 951. Pops had one and a couple of track events in his let me know where I was headed. 1995-A timely raise at work let it happen. I sold my 86 Grand National and bought her. Modded thru the years, 15+ Drivers eds, now 290 RWHP and a fine tuned street/track machine.

1967 Dodge Charger. I knew this car since high school, I saw it every day going to school and drooled. 440/6pack testosterone pump. Back in 1988 I saw it for sale, had the $$, and did it. I cruise it every now and then, tweak it here and there, but mostly let it sit. It's nowhere near as much fun to drive as the Pcar.

2002 Mini Cooper S. My wife and I agreed we wanted a Mini before BMW said they were building it. When they made the announcement, I was first in line. It's my daily summer driver and an absolute blast to carve thru twisties. I imagine all the other autocross contenders feel like F1 drivers behind Michael/Ferrari when they see a Mini arrive at an autocross. All of a sudden second in that class is looking pretty good. Tons of fun.

88 Audi 5000 S Quattro. I decided I wasn't gonna drive the Mini in the snow, so I looked around. Where else can you get a German 4x4, 100K miles, for $1400?! This thing is an absolute blast to drive in the snow, plus German design. You should see the look I get at the auto parts counter when I ask for 5 Bosch Platins..

1996 Odyssey. The wife's car. Perfect for the task.

I need more garage space!!!

83 944 - Bought out of a barn as a Junior in High School. Have driven her ever since - she's definitely a "beater." The 83 has taken me everywhere I needed to go, though. She's up for sale now, because I'm heading out of IN in May and need the extra $$$ to buy a car for my girlfriend. Let me know if want her - CHEAP!

Late 85 944 - Bought between Sophomore and Junior year(s) in college from 2nd owner. Had the original window sticker, sales invoice, tire-changing gloves, dealership card and a polaroid photo of the original owner accepting the keys from the salesman (in front of the car.) It probably wasn't the best financial decision at the time but I knew I wasn't going to get the chance again at the price the seller was asking.

Bought a 931 to mess around with... then it got very impractical very quickly so it had to go

I'm still laughing about Dan's big black GRAND NAT'!
(even though they are fast as hell)

1995 Nissan Altima--Good commuter car as I travel 76 miles a day to and from work. Gets reasonable gas mileage and is pretty much maintenance free. No car note is really nice too.

2003 Honda Odyssey--Wife's car. Bought in October with full leather, DVD, 3 rows of seats for the kids and their gear, holds lots of cargo, and the rear seat folds into the floor so that the ball and chain doesn't have to lift it out.

1986 951--bought from a Med School student who didn't have enough money for his last semester. He sold it to me for $4,500. Needed front seals, timing belt/H20 pump and the paint was bad. All of which has/is being addressed. Decided to paint Arena Red (all time fav. Porsche color). Owned for 2+ years which have seen me add approx. 1,500 miles to make it 80,XXX.

Future--mid 80's 911 or an E-type, if I can coax the neighbor to sell the stranded Jag in his garage.

2000 Audi A6 4.2 – Ostensibly the SO’s car, but we trade back and forth a lot. Ultra-comfortable, lots of power, gorgeous lines…all around a great car.

2002 Mercury Mountaineer – My daily driver since the other Audi left us (see below). Comfortable, good power, clean interior, but still an SUV.

1986 951 – Track car in the making. Mods so far: Leda coilovers front and rear, RE camber plates, 968 M030 rear sway bar, autothority chips, SS brake lines, Porterfield pads, K&N.

Recently departed:

2000 Audi S4 – Was my daily driver and track car until I sold it. (After I got the 951, the SO said four cars was one too many, plus we needed the cash to "fund" our second child). An absolutely great car--gobs of low end power, beautiful styling, an interior to die for. I miss this car dearly. Mods at time of sale: APR chip with race gas setting (300+ HP), Alcon B-Type front calipers with StopTech rotors, 17” SSR Competition wheels, Nuspeed 19mm rear sway bar, UUC short shifter, SS brake lines, K&N.

1988 944S. No way I could afford to have another car, so this one takes me everywhere, rain or shine. I'd hate to not have it

'86 951 - I hadn't had a 'cage' in over 7 years and wasn't looking forward to freezing my *** off on a motorcycle for another winter so I started looking at cars. I was mostly looking at rucks and work vans just because they seem more practical to me but friends at work (all quasi-ricers - they do more perfomance mods than cosmetic and auto-X, but it's fun to pick on their rice roots) got me thinking about some sort of sports car. Looked at everything under the sun for under $10k and found only 1 car that I fit in (6'4"), and liked. In the 5 months I've had her, I've been on the fence about selling (and keep falling off on opposite sides).

'86.5 Honda VFR 750 - been my MAIN transportation (if not only) for the better part of 7 years. I've put well over 100k miles on the bike, it's done commuter duty in DC, took me to Phoenix, AZ and now Atlanta, GA. More mods than you can shake a sick at...

'88 Yamaha YSR80 - cute little motorcycle that my girlfriend has inherited. I just used it for getting around at the racetracks.

'83 Yamaha 650 Maxim - free project bike. If I ever complete it I'll sell for about what I have invested.

'95 Yamaha Seca II - investment motorcycle - bought it for a third the market value as a bike for the GF. She doesn't ride it, so it's been an alternative to my VFR for 2 years.

Previously:

'86 Jeep Wagoneer - parents vehicle that they 'loaned' me while I was in college.

'83 Lebaron - first car, I beat the hell out of this $500 junker. Wasn't reliable enough to see me off the college so the parents inherited it.

'52.5 Chevy 5-window truck - my hot-rod, it ended up droped, chopped, 4-wheel disc brakes, LT1 powered and all in a lovely primer. Dad sold it to fund an airplane a few years back because he never drove it and I wasn't going to come pick it up.

944S - listed in my sig. I try not to drive it every day, but I usually do. Like heroin, only it's a car.
2000 Maxima SE - an excellent car that is basically everything the Porsche isn't. This car cost 4 times as much as I paid for the Porsche. Guess which one gets garaged, waxed and pampered.

1998 BMW 328i - Really a great little sports sedan, plenty of low end torque and very nimble steering. A fun practical car.

2000 Boxster S - the operative word is "permagrin."

1986 944 - Had it a little over a year, and it has been lots of fun. The mechanicals are in great shape, so concentration has been placed on restoring the interior (new dash, steering wheel, seats, mats). I always wanted a 944, and it has not disappointed. Best kept secret in sports cars!

1987 924S - My "beater" even though it's only got 85,000km (just over 50,000 miles) and is in nice shape. I was living in the snow belt, driving a 98 Jeep Cherokee as my daily driver, prior to moving to the west coast. Once I landed here, I realized that I could finally have a Porsche to drive everyday so that's what I did. It wasn't long after that #2 came along...

1969 912 - I came into some money and decided that I needed a 2nd Porsche for autocross and car shows so I went shopping, cash in hand. I was looking for a 914 initially but fell in love with this 912 at first sight. The price was right and the car came home. That's it to the left!

Still trying to get my fiancee out of her generic Integra and into a 944... it's a tough sell.

When I say beater, I say it with love. The car gets washed at least once a week inside and out and gets a wax monthly in the summer. Less frequently in the winter but still occasionally. I vacuum the floor mats almost every couple of days (never get tan floormats!) to keep them looking decent.

A beater to me, means the car I use everyday to get to work, go to the mall or just drive the wheels off of to blow away the cobwebs on my brain after a tough day at work.

I love the car to death and I wouldn't trade it for anything... (scoping out pic of 911RS on wall of den) well, almost anything. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />
