Post OT: How many, and whats the story?

Ok, not THAT how many . . .

How many car's do you own right now, and whats the deal? Why are they there? I'll start:

1987 Porsche 944, wanted an interesting daily driver always thought 944's were cool looking and I was really getting into european cars. Thought it would be a fun toy.

1991 Saab 9000CD Turbo, wife need a car and we just had a kid. Wife previously had a 1994 Ford Probe GT which we sold because of kid to get a minivan (1993 Dodge grand caravan) wife wrecked van and we did not have full coverage. decided I hated van anyway adn started looking at sports sedans - no you could'nt pry her away from it.

1992 Ford F150, fixed totalled van with junkyard parts traded it to a family member who liked it for the F150. Fixed up the F150 and its now a home depot hauler, parts chaser, junkyard dog truck thing.

1997 Ford Probe GTS, bought it new in 1996 as a daily driver then got into modifying it. Barely driven now, a beast of a car that see's weekend track use in the summer..

How about you?

87 951...ran into a large sum of money through the stock market at 16 years old. i sat on it for a bit, being rational, thinking i would save it for college. BUT i saw it one day while driving home from school. id wanted a porsche for as long as i can remember, and that was that who needs education when you have a porsche anyways?

My current stable:
1989 Porsche 944S2: Purchased used in summer of 2001. After 4 years of planning, saving, looking, I finally got the Porsche I was hoping for!

1995 Subaru Legacy AWD: Purchased new in fall of 1994. Daily commuter and plaything in the snow.

1992 Subaru SVX: Purchased used in fall of 1998: wife's commuter car.

My previous rides include:
1973 VW fastback: It's ugly but it gets you there!
1981 Plymouth Turismo TC-3: EVERYTHING broke on it at some point!
1987 Ford Mustang LX 4cyl: my college years...
1990 Acura Integra GS: never drove a better handling FWD car.
1992 Toyota Corolla: sold to bro-in-law
1991 Toyota MR2: sold to my other bro-in-law.

Currently:
1993 Golf 1.4ltr 60hp. The daily beater. And it does get beaten. Only 183000 Kilometers on it though. "Proud" owner for 6 months.
1974 Porsche 914. I was actually looking at all kinds of cars, but I used to like these way back in the day when I was about 13 and I saw my first one. Just interesting cars I suppose. Then I found one in Yahoo classifieds. So I went ahead and bought it. It's really fun to work on, and will soon be my daily driver in california.

Previously:
87 Saab 900 turbo
86 saab 900 S automatic
86 Saab 900 S Manual .. My very own very first car. 1000 dollars. 230 thousand miles in the end.

Cool

In the order I got them:

1987 951 – After I got car jacked in 1998 (1997 993 C2S) my wife would not co-sign for a lease on another Porsche afraid for my life. I was able to buy this very inexpensive car (6k at that time) and without the need of any knowledge from the wife (until the car was in our garage). I wanted another Porsche and for the money this car was awesome, oh, and the potential!! After owning the car for 5 years I am finally starting to mod the car. I have enjoyed every second of ownership with this car… oh wait! Not every second, there was the time when the DME started to give me trouble due to bad solder joints, and the time the clutch went on me in front of the house, or the time the alternator cut into a few of the adjacent cables when the tie wrap broke, and… I plan to take it to the track someday, just for fun. At least one DE event.

1998 Volvo T5 – Bought it a few days before my daughter was born. I wanted a safe car to carry the family. I wanted safety and performance. Since my in-laws and wife are Volvo freaks, this was a good compromise. The car became my wife’s car and now that the in-laws are living with us it has become their car.

1991 964 – One day (3 years ago) my wife told me that since we were no longer in a hot area (hot as in car jacking, we had been in Orlando, FL for two years already) that I should consider getting another 911… well I went like crazy looking for a car before she changed her mind. Initially I was looking for a 1987-1989 911 until I came across this one. Looked impeccable and with only 32k miles. Good price too. Well… US$7,000.00 later in repairs and maintenance it is still a great and impeccable car!

2002 Honda Odyssey – What can I say? We moved to Orlando and immediately became a Resort for the family and friends. This was the most powerful minivan out there 240hp with disc brakes in all four corners, 5 speed, a child silencer (DVD system) and space for 7 and luggage. Extremely happy with it. It is what the wife drives.

2002 Yamaha Roadstar – Simply stated… I could not afford to buy a Harley Davidson Fat Boy. As close as I will get to what a dog feels when he sticks his face out the window. Air-cooled VTwin. Sweet!! Will customize it one day. I wanted to confront the fear of riding and decided to take the Motorcycle Safety Training and get a bike. Great for relieving stress. I can do without it anytime (specially when I put the top down on the 964). But I am glad I did it anyway.

86 951 - 1 owner (dad)- but later turned into my daily driver for the last few years (about 4), but not anymore. its a summer/weekend project car now. constantly being upgraded and perfected. I will never sell it, if I did I know I would go looking for it later in life, so with what is invested and its sentimental value..its never leaving my side.

92 Pathfiner - The winter, now daily driver. Over 199,000 miles and still going like a charm.

97 Specialized S-Works Mountain Bike, the daily campus cruiser and fun toy for some dirt paths.

When Im finished w/ school in may ill keep the Pathfinder until I can afford a new daily. (Want a Volvo 850R, or Audi, etc...Then the serious modding of the 951 begins..muhaahahamuhaaa

1993 968 Coupe - Bought in 1998. 38,416 miles currently. Only 2800 miles put on it since June of 2000. I had to find something to replace the 84 944 I sold to start a buisness. I have always drooled over the 968 curves.

2000 Mercedes C230K sport limited edition. Daily driver but I am known to do a mod or so every 6 months. Next im shootin for a Kleennan pully kit and upsolute chips. Thats as close as I can get to the fun you turbo guys have. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

1987 944S- Just bought it a month a go. I have been in Air Force ROTC for the past four years and i'll be a pilot in the Air Force upon my comission in the Air Force and graduation from college in early May. Needed a car to get me where i'm going. I have a friend with two porsche's (both 944's) and he got me hooked. Officially has 118,000 miles but just got the clutch replaced and is currently in the process of getting a brand new upper half (head and all) from Bob Farmer.

94 968 cab
I was working for a construction company in Chicago when I happened to be remodelling a ministers condo, during the time I was there I always saw his 968. He got married and needed to get a more practical car, he only had two parking spots so the 968 was to be traded, when coming back from the lexus dealer he was so insulted by what the dealer offered, I asked what he wanted.
Handshake $15K it was mine.

01 Expedition
Ok, I know its a tank. It's SUPERCHARGED
It's my daily driver, faster off the line than the Porsche, absolute sleeper, total blast off the line for a 6000lb truck, 1/4 mile 14.72
K&N Filter, Bassini Cat Back, Lightning wheels 3.73 gears

92 Audi 100 Quattro Wagon
It's the wifes

87 Ford F250
Work truck, haul anything. Started my own small company, so this truck is paying our bills.

'85 VW Jetta: daily driver, and I bought it from my dad. It was bought so that I could continue to modify my previous VW Scirocco into an even better (read: "less streetable") autocrosser. The car is so cheap and reliable, I can't afford to sell it.

'87 944: originally bought to replace my Jetta as a daily driver, it ended up replacing my Scirocco as the toy. I decided to buy it after I asked a cut blonde out, and she shot me down. I'm not making that up.
