Unimpressed with my Lindsey B.E.
I put my Lindsey boost enhancer on my 1989 951 2.5 weeks ago and after adjusting and re-adjusting I am just not really impressed. Before I bought it I read lots of posts here and it seems that I am the only one who wasn't impressed. Does anyone want to buy mine? Make me an offer, or it will just sit on a shelf in my garage forever! You can post an offer here, or email me at pauldobbs@hotmail.com
Thanks,

Wasn't it Luke or someone who was saying you won't notice results if there's something the matter with your wastegate? I'd check the old posts about this before you give up on the LBE.

Well, to be fair, the guys at Lindsey Racing told me that the only complaints they ever got were from people with the "S" spec cars. Something about the computer not reading the amount of air being taken in, therefore it would run a little lean. I have a stage 2 chip and a 3" test pipe and a jetted banjo bolt, so I may just be getting all I can get right now, so...
I guess if I want to go faster, I'll have to spend more than $100.
You can't own a Porsche and be a cheapskate, can you?

Sure you can...you just have to be really lucky and have no problems and also be willing to "settle" for stock power!

You're not supposed to use a jetted banjo with the LBE. The boost enhancer is a manual boost controller that is supposed to send a boost signal faster than the jetted banjo because it opens when the boost threshold has been reached instead of being open all the time. Put your stock banjo back in and then you'll like the LBE.

G96 is correct all the way on that one,,,LBE in place, use the stock banjo bolt or take the jet out of the one that came with the APE chips.
If you marked the orginal setting(counted threads or whatever) then that should be 10psi. Every full turn in/out is 1 psi +/-. ONe full turn in = 11 psi.

I took the jet out, and my LBE is set at 11, and I think my boost comes on about 300 rpm sooner than it did (around 3100 rpm). It isn't an earth-shattering improvement but it's noticeable. More of a tweak than a mod.

G'dam 26/8 turbo!
I don't see full boost until 3500rpm with the cycling valve bypassed, using a hallman boost controller..
(yea take the jet out of the banjo bolt...that is probably giving you WAY too much boost anyway..autothority should be shot for releasing such a **** poor product)

Thanks, I think I'll just leave the LBE off the car. I think it looks a little goofy anyway. It makes me feel like putting a TYPE R decal on. I think I'll just sell it to one of my old pothead friends from high school, I'll bet they will find a use for it!

Yeah, I thought so too. I've taken 2 deposits from people who ended up not coming to look at it for personal reasons. (financial) And several people have offered $15k and below, so I couldn't sell it for that, I like it too much! I did buy an '84 targa to compliment it, though. I like the 951 1000 times better, though! Wanna buy a targa?

I have the APE stage II chip which came with a jetted banjo bolt. When I finally hooked up my boost gauge, I was able to tell how much boost I was actually making. I had the stock banjo bolt in with the LBE set to stock settings, and I was making a disappointing 13 psi boost in 4th gear WOT. I tried cranking the LBE up, and all it netted me was 13.5 psi near the upper eschelon (sp?) of its adjustment range. With the jetted bolt in and the LBE at the stock setting, my max boost in 4th gear was 13.5 psi, and adjusting the LBE up gave me 16.something (a little more than 16) which is as much as I would want to run on the current software and hardware (jeeze...I've been doing to much PC work recently...can you tell?). Overclock your car!

Nick- Make me an offer! You know how much they are at Lindsey, but then again, you can see how much value I put on them! Maybe we could get somewhere between those numbers!
Luke- Your getting full boost at 2800rpm's? I'd kill for that! I don't get full boost untill about 3900rpm's. My car is a dog untill then, but then all hell breaks loose and it pulls like a mule. What year is your car?
