Talking Back from shop. My LEMON is now a PEACH!!!

I picked up my $2 from SM Motorsports today.

About $5,700 later and the car runs sweet up to the 3,500 redline for the next 1,000 miles.

Here is a summary of what was done:

Valve job, 2 valves ($90 each), 1 spring replaced
head machined
replace tensioner and chain $370
water pump and belts $450 pump
motor mounts- sunset
rod bearings
rings
all coolant hoses
oil cooler gasket & O-rings
alignment $140
total parts including the mounts and tune up stuff i got from sunset is about 3,500
labor is about 1,800

now what should i sell it for?

Never mind the car, your daughter is beautiful!! I know a good looking baby..and she's one of em! Congrats!

And congrats on the car's return! Just be careful with it, and keep it! I took a drive in my new S2, and swear it performs the SAME as my bro in law's 97 996! Same engine wine, same stiff handling, and same hard leather "sitting on the floor" type seats!

Your guy charged $370 total for the tensioner/chain, or was that just for the actual parts?

Nearly all of the service on my car has been in the "no-fun, but necessary" category. There is some satisfaction in having a well-maintained car, though.

I hope you were kidding about selling the car now after all that work! At least enjoy it for a few months before you give up on it.

I hope you at least got some airline credit card miles for all the $$$ you spent.

yeah, you will see it at the next dyno day, with the 12 way 928 seats i installed today.

the 360 was for the tensioner and chain. the labor was free because he had to take it off to machine the head. i paid 1600 for labor because once the motor mounts were off, and the head was off all the rest was right there.

the 3200 in parts from the shop was full list though. that included the 360 for the chain and tensioner, and 450 for the water pump. ouch!!

Andy,
on behalf of marisa thank you for the compliment.

now go to buy buy baby and buy your daughter a blue shirt/onezee just like marisa's and your daughter will be as cute as marisa!

we can be slaves to cars, but we must teach our daughters at an early age to be slaves to fashion, good fashion like the nifty blue shirt!

Tom--My daughter has enough boy-like clothes! Everyone always says "HE's so cute!". My wife isn't into fashion...it shows on little Jenna!

So how are the 928 seats, compared to the normal 944 seats??
