I rarely buy this, but it used to have a great monthly feature 'the Personals' where people would send in photos and descriptions of their cars like they were personal dating ads. You'd see some really interesting modified cars with all their changes listed.

I used to subscribe to European Car, but let my subscription run out a few years ago when every magazine kept showing E36 BMWs, Audi A4s and A3 VR6 VWs that all had essentially the same mods. Sure, there were some differences here and there, but each type of car was a variation on the same theme.

I now subscribe to Grassroots Motorsports. At least this way, the cars shown are something that I'll actually be able to afford!

There's not a whole lot of content or advertisers for 944 owners. They seem heavy on BMW, Audi, and fluff. I subscribed back in the 80's when it was called "VW & Porsche Magazine"... great publication then, but sometime in the 90's it went too mainstream and lost its edge.

Grassroots Motorsports is a terrific magazine. If you've never opened one up before, it may take several minutes to adjust. No fluff, no fat... stuff like driving strategy, building 12-sec cars on a budget, frame up restorations, used sports car buying tips, etc. While not Porsche specific, they frequently do articles that apply to our cars.

I second the Grassroots Motorsports suggestion... Although not always Porsche-related, some of their projects are really cool. Rotary-powered Spitfire anyone?

I've subscribed to EC for YEARS now. I'm not sure why I do since nothing on there is relevant to my interests. Back when it was VW&Porsche it was a great mag but now it just has nice pictures and browsing material.

Seems to be the Euro equivilent to a ricer mag nowadays. I held on to my subscription for the early 911S project, but for me to do what they did would cost me $thousands$upon$thousands$. Just too goofy.

I'll pick it up at the bookstore if the mag has something interesting in it. But I don't think it's worth the sub. My $.02.

[Edit: How do you spell equivi...equive...equi...oh hell... ]

I got it for a year as well. Some intersting stuff, but I got bored with it. I have picked the occasional issue because there was something intersting. It does seem like they do the same things over and over again. So best thing is to check the newsstand. If you see something intersting pick it up as it will be good reading. but month after month the thing gets old.

Is this the project that was a 911 slant? If so, I remember that from years ago(when I had a subscription). I recall they were really going to mod it out, and then they quit with the updates. Same thing with their "project Mercedes 450SL"--3 segments, then nothing. Hmm, if it wasn't the slant project, I remember them building a nice green IROC-look 911--could have been that one. I don't know, I haven't read that mag in years, although Tim, since you now have an A4, it is probably worth it.
