eh- like i said they dont crush cars because they are pretty- even though this one is not. Did i mention what other cars ive seen are attending this event. Besides Travis' team and their 944s, there is a supra, mr2 and some other cool sports cars.

If there are really 120 cars on the track, it's going to be more like rush hour traffic with a case of road rage. The first couple laps are going to be insane. and I can't wait !!! Speaking of which, I think I'll go hook up the trailer and get some more things loaded.

Van,
I got you an air mattress and quilts loaded so you are set there. I'll have another air mattress and a camping mat for others. I also have a matterss inflater/deflater for others who bring air mattresses. the ones I have are just super singles but that's all you need anyways.

Are you guys pumped up yet? Oh, forgot to mention I may have some yuengling beer coming my way this week.(if my co worker remembers to pick me up a case as promised)

Yes - I'm pumped up! I've been dreaming out it almost every night!

Tom, you're right that the first couple of laps will be dangerous (to the car). We'll have to make sure that we have a good (level headed) strategy at the beginning. A winner won't be decided in the first lap - but a looser sure will be!

Is there going to be an actual "qualifying"? I.e. fastest lap in practice sets your position on the grid? I think that's NOT how they do it - it will probably be the luck of the draw. If there is, we would, of course, want to qualify at the front - then we might be able to avoid much of the first lap mayhem....

Um.... 120? If you scroll down the teams list there are 154 registered.

Now I was told that they expect 130 but with 154 on the list....

I get to drive first for our team so I am going to granny the beater for my whole 1.5 hour session, or until the pack clears out a bit. I am going to bet that you don't find any good track space until at least 6 hours in.

Placement on the first lap is decided by:

1: Cars all go out onto track and drive around at a painfully slow pace for about 30 min to make sure all the transponders are working.
2. A car number or team is pulled out of a hat
3. When that car crosses the start finish line, it is in first without knowing it and the race has begun.

It's ridiculous and chaotic at the start.

Level headed approach? Hit the pits and "fix" something, until the field thins a bit...with 120 cars out there, you won't loose many laps that will need to be made up, but may be trying to make them up against some quick cars...

our first sessions should be 30 minutes each to allow everyone to get a chance in the car. After that we'll adjust driver times and figure out how much fuel consuption etc we are having.

Took the car on a trailer to the VW Porsche reunion just for the hell of it- good times, crappy weather, won a top 20 plaque!!!

Why is there always a red 951 parked next to you at these shows?

I've decided there is no way we're getting crushed. Yes, that's final. People LOVE this car, so they will not crush it. Plus, we're giving out cookies!
