I went to dinner with a friend last week who was dying to find a bathroom on the way to the restaurant. We didn't find one, and after ordering and sitting in the restaurant for about 20 minutes I said to her, "Didn't you say you had to go to the bathroom when we were walking here?" Then she told me that right after we'd sat down she left the table to use the bathroom. I combed my short-term memory trying to find that space of time where she wasn't at the table, and as hard as I tried I couldn't remember her being gone. It's possible that while immersed in the menu I'd talked to myself for a few minutes not realizing that she wasn't sitting across from me, but this is unlikely. The sad truth is that one of us is utterly insane; I'm just not sure which of us it is.

"The sale or distribution of turtles with a carapace length of less than 4 inches has been banned in the US since 1975 (Title 21 CFR 1240.62). The ban was brought into effect under the Public Health Services Act by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to address the problem of Salmonella infections in children. Prior to the ban there were an estimated 250,000 cases of Salmonellosis in children and infants that were associated with pet turtles in the US.
Why 4 Inches? After all, turtles of all sizes can carry Salmonella. 4 inches was chosen with the thought that most young children wouldn't try to put a turtle larger than this in their mouth (of course, putting a turtle in your mouth isn't the only way to be infected with Salmonella). "
