I dont' see the point of running these 924 sims, becuase they are not too realistic, and there is no true custom visual model. And even if there was, you'd be the only one able to use it, because other players would not have the files! so they would not see anything...

You can TRY playing on EA racing with them, but I forsee system crashes and account bans if you do!

Now, as for controllers, the only products that I can recommend, and the logitech series. The low cost Formula GP is a great value for the $$, perhpas the cheapest wheel you can get, and miles better than Microsoft's piece of **** wheel. Lots of compatibility issues with that wheel, and it's not even comfortable to grip! All plastic!

The MOMO series are really good as well, but VERY expensive. You get what you pay for, i guess.

The only product that I am on the fence with, are the 2 new Thrustmaster Ferrari wheels. They are reasonably priced, look great, feel nice, but I don't know about compatibiliy. You can always return it for a Logitech if it doesn't work, I guess.

BUT, the bottom line is, you gotta get something new. The newer Digital Controlers that plug into your USB ports are EXCELLENT. They respond more quickly, smoothly, and are more precise than the old analouge Thrustmaster/MS wheels. More importantly, they help you drive faster!

Also, for over-the-top realism, check out the ACT labs products.

You can have a FULL ON 4,5,6, or 7 speed gearshift, steering wheel + pedals setup WITH a clutch pedal!!!! www.actlabs.com Their head office is only 30 min away from my place..

You sure that actlabs site is correct, I get some material testing page. That wheel you mentioned sounds sweet though.

Thanks again for information.
You might be right on those 924:s and their realism. I am not planning on using those cars in EA website, or any modified ones. I am sure there are better "tuners" there.

I looked Logitech Momo from Circuit City and it was less than I expected, $99. I'll have to go and see whether it would be worth the difference to normal one. Momo has some good reviews around.

hey Rich, thanks for that force-feedback thing, i never thought to turn it all down to 0, but hey, i did it and i think my controller-lag is gone.. nice!

i just use a microsoft sidewinder gamepad so i have to tap-tap-tap around the turns, oh well i have a ms wheel but im too lazy to set it up..

anyway.. i shaved off a few seconds.. nowhere near 2:44 though

Good run there Op!

hrk, DO go ahead and download the EA cars. If you join an online game, and we wanna use the 959 or 928, and you don't have it, it prevents us from using those cars. They are pretty nice, as well!

All you have to do is double click each file, simple install.

Hmm. Well then I'm happy for you, you saved some $$ that you can put towards a real Porsche.

BUT, rebooting is not a permantant fix, if it's a recurring problem.

Got a Logitech Momo wheel yesteray and yo are right it is quite accurate and that makes difference. However I am not sure whether I like the feel as much as my old one without force feedback. I have to get used to dampened speed and sounds it makes when you turn it quicly to countersteer.
This was not the aluminium with leather -style wheel. More like plastic pedals and rubber wheel, but it has gear stick and paddles.

USB seems to be the way to go. Now when calibrating everything is rock solid instead of wobbling around.

Thanks Rich.

00 911 Turbo in Cote D'Azur 2.50.18 with less than perfect driving, but Force feedback turned to zero, now that makes a difference.

As it just so happens, my "real" Porsche is finally loaded on a truck and on it's way. It's now in Richmond, Virginia. Yippeee. I say "real" because it's only a 993 and we all know how Rich feels about 993's.

Congrats, I think the 993's are the best post '73 911's ever made.
If you do a road trip when the weather breaks stop on over sometime. If you bring your daughter she can watch every Dora episode ever made with my daughter!!

Hey, I said 993's look like VW Beetles. That doesn't mean I don't like 'em! I just have a thing for yellow 964 Turbos.

Congrats on the 993 waybrig, please post some piccys for us when it arrives!!!

hrk - I'm glad I could help! Also, if you hate the dampened feel of the steering, you CAN dismantle the wheel, and disconnect the FF motor from the wheel. It takes some time and effort, but I did it for a friend on his steel/leather momo, so I'm sure you can do it on the plastic one too.
