Guys guys, did any of you see me my custom Eagle pic? I'm just wondering if any of you saw it, cuz no one asked about it.
Who was it that needed the link to add-on cars? (959,928,GT2,GT3) ?? I can give you the quick FTP download.

All you do to get a custom pic is put a BMP file that is the exactly the same as your player's name, in your main PU directory. You wanna make sure it is the same shape rectangle as the other pics, otherwise it will be squished and look stupid.
This pic ONLY shows up in LAN and IP games. You USED to be able to do it on EA's servers when the game first came out, but a friend of mine started putting naked chicks in there, and some people complained and well, so EA turned it off on the servers. Now it only works in IP and LAN games.
(Only old pro's like me know that trick!)
You CAN substitute a GT1's performance files into that of a 356, and fool everyone into thinking it's a bone stock 356, BUT the long time players can tell you're cheating, and if you do it on EA's server, it automatically matches the files with it's own database, and BANS your account if you cheat online!

We've been working to hack PU for a long time, and so far we've been able to export the cars into 3D modeling prgrams, but it's impossibhle to import new cars into the game.
So no 904GTS, 917s, or 968s...

i know the pic thing and i remember when people used to put naked chicks too.. oh well.. they abused it and ea stopped it. for shame.
and stop givin em ideas about changing the physics files =p
i wonder why ea made it so impossible to import new models into nfs pu... i mean nfs4/5 has millions of custom models made by users.. oh well

Hi guys,
It was fun yesterday, I drove as hepa and lost most of the races, but I'm getting there. One eye in map and the other in road may not be the best way to drive ...
I havent installed those add-on cars? (959,928,GT2,GT3)
I think I have downloaded few of them but not installed yet.
What would be more interesting to me is where to find the file nfs924.zip to go with 924 physics in 924RACR website.
All this physics talk makes me think about playing on their website where files are compared could be better.
Not that would matter to me since I don't even know the tracks or cars well enough to avoid big crashes inlcuding rollovers...
hrk

That was the first time I raced online, it was a blast. I gotta learn how to type so I can keep up with you guys on the chat.
We should set up a Rennlist night once a month or so. How many can race at the same time?

Thanks for joining in everybody. Lot's of fun was had by all it seems.
Here's what happened to me in case any of you missed it: Next to last race (993's in Corsica), my car acted like it ran out of gas about half way through. I could steer, shift, brake, but no gas! I thought it was just a fluke, but last race (914's), I try to launch off the start line, and no go! Still able to steer, etc... but no throttle. I hope this will be resolved by a reboot, but I'm not optimistic. I've used this setup (Thrustmaster wheel and pedals) for about five years with no problems. What a great time it picked to give up on me!
So anybody have a favorite car/track combo from last night? I thought running Moby Dick's through the snow was memorable if not necessarily all that much fun.
Maybe we'll try to race like this on a weekly basis.

Oh, that's right, it just looked like he was behind us because he was lapping us!

LOL!
hrk - a word of advice!!! DON'T INSTALL THE 924 Files!!!!!
They totaly mess up multiplayer. It's fine if you are just playing by yourself, but think about what happens if you select that car while nobody else has it installed. They won't have the graphics or the physics for that car. Remember, it is not an add-on car, it REPLACES another car!!! Not only that, but you cannot logon to EA Racing Online, becuase it will spot the custom physics and BAN you from the server!

Waybrig - rebooting would not solve that problem! If your gas pedal isn't working, you'll either need to recalibrate in the joystick menu, or fix the pedal manually, or both.
I had a Thrustmaster T2 setup for YEARS. I liked the chunky rubber of the wheel, but the springs and analouge potentiometers were simply CRAP.
The biggest problem, is that unless they were specially calibrated, you were very likely NOT getting full deflection in a given axis! That means for example, while you may physically have the gas pedal totally depressed, the joystick itself is only sending a signal to the computer that says it's only 95% depressed! You know what that means - you're not going as fast as you could be!
The BEST thing to do, is go out, and buy one of those Logitech Formula GP steering wheels. They are digital, and very comfortable, and PRECISE as hell. Also, they are VERY affordable. The yellow, non-force feedback ones go for like, 35$ and the Force Feedback ones go for around 75$. I prefer the NON-Force feedback, because FF actually contributes to slowing down the gameplay, and often it isn't that realistic. plus it's more expensive!
BTW, for those of use who DO NOT have force feedback joysticks, here's a tip that can speed up gameplay!
- Go into the Options screen, and under Controls, go to Force Feedback. Make sure everythign is set exactly to zero, including all the sliders. This will manually turn of FF, becuase by default it is ON, even if you are playing with a keyboard! Which means the game is calculating the FF effects but it has nowhere to send them!!!
(Makes a noticeable difference for me, anyways...)

Thanks Rich for warning!
I did install 924 files already. Everything else but the one which is inside nfs924.zip.
I have added these files copied into directory install_directory/GameData/Simulation/CarData
924_ita_77.sim
924_ita_turbo.sim
931_stock.sim
937gtr_1.sim
And I can start them if I log in as 924RACR on his savegame which I downloaded but there is no physical car visible.
I also can play with EA website on my own name.
So do these files hurt stock playing if I sign in with my own savegame? Or have I just been lucky if I haven't played on the website with replaced cars?
And on the other hand. I have quite old Thrustmaster sprint steering wheel which takes about 10 to get going decent before that it pulls right. And there still seems to be dithering when you calibrate it. I quess it would be time for new one. Other recommendations?
