Brighter interior light?
Hi Folks,
I'd like a brighter interior light (not whiter like those LED's) for my 944. Most newer cars these days seem quite bright inside. I think the standard is 5w? Any suggestion? Can I up the wattage to a brighter bulb without burning anything? What is the maximum possible? Or should I look at either a different type of bulb or (at worst) rewire to accept more watts? Or even worse still... build two new interior lights in the back passenger area on the side?
What have others done?
ps... I bought some 9-LED ones, but they were ****e. Was bright like florescent lights (yuk) and were only 1/2 as bright as factory bulbs (when tested with a light meter).
Thanks,
Radar.

Your options are very limited given the size and location of the fixture. If you need additional interior light, your best bet would be to add additional lighting. A dome light in the middle of the roof would work well if you don't have a sunroof provided you can figure out a good way to mount it. If you do have a sunroof, you'll have to get more creative. Go to a junkyard and check out various dome lights and their positions. You're sure to find something suitable.
The wiring is a very small gauge. I wouldn't want to wire up too many incandescent lamps off of it.

im in the same boat...i didnt need those visors anyways, maybe i can put some dome lights out of an accord or something in there.
random question anyone know why my center dome light wont turn on when i flip the switch to "on" but when its in the "door" position it comes on just fine with a door or hatch open? is that a switch problem?
