Default The "no bumper" looik.

I have my bumper off to work on fog lights, and I have to admit, it doesn't look half bad. I you could fabricate something (mesh/grid) for the opening, it might look cool.

I am definitely getting either Euro bumpers or GT Racing fiberglass.

Check out my thread-I ended up using a 924S euro on my 88S...I bought it thinking it was a 944 euro bumper, and couldn`t sell it. So I modded the 924 bumper and she shoehorned in. (good thing its fiberglass)

I have to add some SS mesh inserts in the euro light openings, and I plan on fabbing a piece to attach on the 944 lower spoiler to protect the rad.

For a 944, I think the euro bumper is the best way to go...I tried the snub..its ok, but the euro is waaaay better!

Haha, you will prolly want a Bumper there, a Front End Collision of any speed would make for a really bad day.

The US Bumper is nice and solid, and with the Filled Shocks, actually has some nice safety features. The Euro Bumper being Fiberglass, and Solid Mounts, not as much.

erzengal, if you get a chance could you do me a favor? could you measure how far out your euro bumper protrudes from the front of the car, using the center of the badge panel as a base? just the top edge would be great.

i have a spare set of bumper shocks i might try to modify just for a project.

In a straight-on 1-10MPH accident, the US spec bumper is going to help. But if it's a faster impact, or offset, things will get ugly regardless. The 944 Cup guys have learned that an offset hit to the bumper will doink the whole frame because the bumper mounts tie to the front of the frame rails.

When you see these cars with Euro spec bumpers, you realize what the Porsche designers were doing. The US bumpers ruin the lines. The turbo "diffuser" under a US bumper looks like a diaper or a drip pan. But with a Euro bumper, the diffuser achieves its intended appearance, and it looks fantastic.

You could actually make it look alot like a 996 turbo or cayanne turbo front end......just put a few uprights in body color to the inside of each of the fogs

Someone just do it. I'll give you a high five.
I really want to know how it would look. I don't have a factory front end anymore to see how it would be.

OMG I hate the styling on so many new cars. For so many years they've been just bland, and now they're getting tragi-comic. That Mazda has got to be one of the fugliest cars I've ever seen. And it will only look worse as it ages. Is this a look that _really_ sells new cars? Oh wait... new car sales are in the biggest hole globally ever. GFC aside, I believe styling alone could well account for that...

Please, please Lord, whatever else happens to my car, leave my 944 "unupdated".
