the fuel rail cracked above #3 injector most likely due to vibration caused by only 2 of 4 mounts being used (the other two were broken by Midas) and the used mounts were opposite eachother

it had a pretty good flow of fuel down the rear mount enough to puddle on one of the head nuts

When I looked at it, it was a very small, slow drip. I guess it got worse fast.

what mounts are you talking about?

so is it recommended to replace the fuel rail with an aftermarket one?

the fuel rail has two ears that attach to the cam cover and two that attach to the intake manifold.

the rail on his car was secured by one cam tower bolt and one manifold bolt. the other mounts were broken.

shouldnt be necessary to replace the rail if its properly secured.

I think the moral of the story is:

If you know something on your car isn't right, DON'T ORDER PARTS TO FIX IT! You will hurt your cars feelings and it will blow up the day before the new parts arrive.

So sorry to hear this! Several years ago we witnessed how this happened to a well known Rennlister's car and he had the stamina to bring it back, but it was far from easy or cost effective. It was known as the "Ill Fated Rebuild" and the saga of how he brought it back made some pretty entertaining reading.
