Exhaust
Hey all, looking for info to build a custom exhaust for my 948. I'm planning on running a single 3 inch from the cat area back to the stock position, with a flowmaster 50 series delta flow muffler. I don't have the coin to shell out for a lindsey system (even though that would be the easiest way) so i'm looking to see if anyone knows the angles of the two bends (to get around the transmission)
Thanks!
Ethan

I can't help you with the angles, but I am planning the same thing when I do my swap (except I'm adding a 3.5)
This place seems to have decent prices, and all the bends and collectors you could ever need.

i've seen that place before, but thanks for posting the link...although, honestly i think i'm going to stray from stainless because i can't afford 27 dollars a foot for stainless 3 inch pipe. I'm going to go with aluminumized steel because it's cheap and much more readily available.
good resource!

The problem with that, that I have seen anyway, is that most muffler shops don't have a mandrel bending machine. When they bend it with their bending machine the pipe gets its diameter squeezed down = not good for performance.
If you want a good performance exhaust, you need mandrel bent pipe. SO either find a shop with a mandrel bending machine, or you have to do like the OP and buy the bends you need. PITA to weld every little angle, but its worth it in the end.

Then start saving for a SS system

it's not complicated enough for it to need to be custom made at a muffler shop...it should only be two simple bends...i have no problem with doing it myself, i've already spent PLENTY of time on this project, and i'd rather just do it myself.
i like where this is going so far...let's keep it up, hopefully we can get some measurements in here soon!

yeah, well i have a friend that's been helping me with welding (he built my motor mounts and modified my oil pan with me). I'm planning on either buying small bends, or a cheap bender (if i can find one that'll bend 3") Most likely just find a place that has assorted bends and pick up some stuff...

Harbor freight had a hydraulic tube bender that will do up to 3.5 pipe for around 150 bucks.....
Still no help with the bends though, sorry.... can you copy the same bends from the stock pipe you removed?

yeah probably, i was just looking to see if it was something simple like a 45 that i could buy. I'll be able to start on exhaust in 2 weeks after i graduate and go home, but for now i'm just trying to keep the ball rolling in my head so i don't lose momentum.
