+1 on multimeter. Multimeter is your friend.

Sounds like the door switch failed as the light does work. Open the door all the way and it should come out easily with a screw or two. Then use a mulimeter to check it.

My door switch was jammed close and the pin never popped out. So the switch is really pretty easy to fix.

Ahh the other easy check is turn off the car open the door and try work the power windows. If the windows work with key out and the door open the relay is still active. The system is supposed to allow the power windows to work with the key out until the driver's door is open. Once the driver's door is opened the relay is turned off as they assume the driver is out of the car.

And in RHD I'm guessing they may have left it on the original drivers side? I'm guessing this must be correct because my passenger door switch doesn't work and I've been experiencing this problem.

In any case I'll let you know later because I'm off to check!

Sorry I dont have another 944 to check. How would I fix that? If I leave it off will that stop the battery from draining? I once changed the bulb on my dome light with the car on and blew a fuse and the clock kept acting funny. The bulb casing would and wouldnt touch the metal and I wasnt sure if it should or shouldnt. The clock work on and off. It would and wouldnt work without a bulb. Even now I get in and the time is random. I was just at a loss. I bet thats going to be it, something with the dome light. Any help anyone can give me with the dome light setup, fuse, anything I would appreciate it.
Next test: keys out of the ignition, door open. Do the power windows work? If so, there's your problem.

I use to keep my lights up because I have a supercharger taking up room. Anyways, battery always went dead...disconnected the motor, pulled the switch and the fuse and STILL kept going dead. Put the headlights down, never had the problem again...crazy but true....
