Gauges
Anybody with a late-model 944 knows the gauges kinda suck at night. (maybe the early cars do too, but since I don't own one IDK)
Have any of you done anything to yours to make them better? If so, how did it work?
Some options I found on eBay...
LED lighting

White gauge faces

Reverse-glow gauges

Any input is appreciated

I went the lowest-tech route of them all and actually just installed new bulbs in all the guages, and I must say that the improvement is significant. They're not as clear as LEDs might be, but for the cost and effort ($15 and 1 hour, respectively), the results are pretty hard to beat

I'd consider it if someone built a true LED dimmer circuit (current driven) that interfaces with the factory dimmer (voltage). I could build a half-assed circuit using a 7805 fixed-voltage regulator and 2N3906 transistor, but I have neither the time nor the patience and it would still be based on voltage.

Was that a self-install, or was it professionally done? Depending on who did it, they may have built in a step-down voltage regulation circuit like I was describing in post 5.
Edit: Found the rest of the thread - done professionally by North Hollywood Speedometer. But in the same thread you said that it was still too bright.
