Default Garage Workbench / Work Area...whaddya got??

I have the luxury of a 3 car garage (one side is tandem...so it's 2 cars deep and not a typical 3 car wide garage.

I've got some space back there to build a nice workbench/work area and was looking for some ideas.

Anyone care to share anything that they've come up with?

When I built my garage, I put 32 linear feet of work bench up... Of course now, 2 years later, it's all covered with crap!

I build my own workbenches at a taller height (work surface) than most, 42" I think. It leaves room underneath for a shelf, and is more practical for small work on the surface. I use 3/4" plywood with tempered masonite over it. Very sturdy and practical.

If you do welding, or other metal work, a heavier metal table will be in order. Likewise grinding stands, a heavy metal stand for a vise, etc. A great place to see garage stuff is: www.garagejournal.com
It's an offshoot of the Jalopy Journal, these guys do fantastic heavy duty car fabrication.

One of my best acquisitions was a heavy metal desk I got surplus for $25. Great place for organizing manuals, doing small work, or relaxing!

A mess............that's what I've got. No matter how much I try I just can't keep the workbench clean.

I've got the middle slot in our 3-car, with a utility freezer in front of it as a workbench, shelving unit to hold supplies to the left, and trash storage nearby for throwing away replaced parts! AKA I got a new car and was shoved into the garage, and dad's workbench is covered in crap.
