There were only 2.5 L 16-valve (S) and 3 L 16-valve (S2).
2.7 was the one-year 2.5 8-valve, I believe.

i wonder what the result would be of a 16-valve 2.7 engine, like an S2 head on the 89 block.
totally not worth it lol but out of curiosity

2.7L camtower is the same as a 2.5L. There is no such thing as a 2.7L valve cover let alone an aftermarket one. Why are you replacing it?

any way to measure a bore on it? like is there any gasket residue? or if you have a 2.5L 8v head laying around you can compare the two and if they have the same water/oil passages it is off an S, if they are different it is an S2

They made 2.5 8v NA heads, 2.5 8v turbo heads, 2.5 16v NA heads, 2.7 8v NA heads, and 3.0 16v NA heads.
