Ok so the red 951 I have that used to be Clints was smashed into by a person on 4-5 narcotics. That person also happens to be my little brother. So after the cops, hospital, task force surrounding his girlfriends house (endangering a minor) and now a long fight with my insurance co (uninsured motorist, yes he was uninsured).
Its going to be a while until I can get an answer from insurance. Im going to take the car to some body shops for estimates on repair. During the down time I want to know how this should be gone about fixed. The panel was already hit in the rear, as body filler came out everywhere when he smashed into it. During the mean time im going to try and fix it myself.
Should the panel be cut out and replaced? Or does this look like it should be fixed then body filled?
The car runs and drives great BTW!

You better use a metal panel.
1 it adds to the rear structural support to the car, thing will flex.
2 keeps another car out of your backseat in a rearend accident.
If you use a Fiberglass/composit rear panel you have to weld in tube braces, cause you got no metal back there.

Its stronger, there are grounds back there, chassis support, trunk latch sits back there. That and its just outright cheaper to find one cut off of a parts car than it would be to make that fiberglass thing fit. Maybe if I were building a track car though.

I threw one out about 2 months ago...
A competent body guy might be able to fix that with a combination of using a stud puller and a bunch of hammering from the inside.

Yeah looks like replacing it is the way to go. It looks like the metals been fatigued enough by being crunched in multiple times.
