Default Differences between my 83 auto and 85.5 5Spd?

I have an 85.5 LSD 5spd car (Goldie), with Konis, sport seats and a fair running motor 240Kmiles. LSD may have been out of an 87 according to PO. It works well.

I'm picking up a straight 83 automatic car on Sunday, has a slipping tranny.(Lots of good points on the car.Including the documented history and low miles motor) I have a replacement auto gearbox if I want to complete it.

Because of the rough body and tired motor in my 85.5 5spd, I think my best combination would be to install the interior, and 5spd components into the 83.

What is the difference between 83 and 85.5 (other than cosmetic) Am I totally off base?

The deal was good enough that I'm not losing anything here, but I'd love to have a car that will last longer in an economical way.

IS THIS Possible? If not, I'm keeping the motor, hood, and fenders from 83 and parting the rest.

Not even sure if the 83 motor is worth keeping... but then it could just be me...

Body components are different.. most mechanicals are different... interior bits are different... pretty much a different car the 83 is...

you would be better off putting the 83 motor in the 85.5 and swapping out the flex plate for the clutch stuff.

putting the manual stuff in the 83 shell would require adding a pedal and the cylinder plumbing system etc

some body parts are easy swaps like fenders, valences, doors, and bumpers
