Post MA Speeding Laws

I have a quick question about speeding laws in MA. Some of my friends at school have told me that if you get pulled over at speeds double the speed limit, you will automaticly lose your license, for just one offence. One person even told me the police can impound your car and arrest you!
This sounds a little extreme to me, and when I asked a local cop who is often around our high school, he said there were no extra penalties for goind double the limit. However this guy has been wrong before. So, does anyone know this to be true or false? If it's true I should be more carful cause 60 comes awful fast in those 30s

Thanks in advance!

i dont know about the laws and i wont tell you not to do 60 in a 30 but... keep in mind that tossing speeding in a school zone to the list is something you probably dont want to do so watch out for the local cop around your school no matter if the laws seem extreme or not

60 in a 30 is a little much, I know, but I have some WIDE open parts. I will slow down in school zones, I know some kids who have gotten raped buy cops for speeding there.

I always thought that was true .. never knew for sure though. I just got my license back today after 6 months of not having it (for 2 speeding tickets) and let me warn you .. it sucks <img border="0" alt="[grrrrrrr]" title="" src="graemlins/cussing.gif" />

If you don't like that then you DO NOT want to move to georgia. Anything past 105 and they will take your car and your liscense, no questions asked.

If you like driving fast, I know an easy way so that you can drive on the autobahn all of the time. All you have to do is sign your name!

Conor,

Do some more checking. In certain states(like PA), there is a set "speed limit exceeded" which will result in suspension of the driver's license and necessitate re-taking a portion of the drivers' exam prior to the license being re-issued. The suspension isn't "on the spot", but takes affect after the ticket has been processed. Believe me, I know--clocked doing 87 in a 55--reduction to "85 in a 55" saved my license.
