Default Mystery relay junction...what's your function

heh. so I have a grey relay that's sticking out from the middle of the console on its own 4 wire harness. It's a standard bosch relay. When the key is inserted, it clicks on. What is it for?

This is on a early car.

Pull the relay then try your windows to confirm.

naw.. not windows. i pulled relay and tested. engine starts and runs, accessories still work: windows, blower, headlights, turn signals, fog lamps. all still work hehe. what other electronics are required for driving....anything? cause this is a track car after all.

Early car right? The only relays not located on the relay board should be:

Windows (the only relay with the part number you mentioned)
Sunroof
Fog lights

Or...as mentioned by others, maybe the previous owner added something.

i actually pulled 2 relays under the glove box. i think they were for the AC. also found out that the blower fan's ground is on that harness. so not everything is on the board

Hmmm...weird. My manual shows AC being relay #3 on the relay board, part #944 615 113 01 for 1983-85/1. What year is the car?

Not on the board (for early 944) should be:
321 919 505 Electric Window Relay
431 951 253 D Sunroof Relay (1984-85/1)
944 615 223 00 Fog Light Relay
944 615 103 00 Sunroof - Radio Relay (1983-85/1)
111 943 383 C Headlight Motor Relay

That's all the info I have, hope it helps.
