so i'm getting my 924 Sebring back, it's in some **** poor condition...bad motor or trans, rusted hood, missing a fender, dents galore and missing front seats(god only knows why).
i had this idea the other day, since i'm going to school to be a auto tech, and i get discounts on parts. that i'd take a 951 motor and such, put it in the 924(along with 951, suspension, tranny, and some other things) get the 944 n/a fenders and front bumper and rear bumper, and make myself a 1981 Porsche 924 Carrera GTP. i figured red exterior with a black interior, and yea it'll take some time(2yrs i think) but it'll be a good car when done.
i do need some help though, i'm still in the research phase, and i was wondering if anyone has any data on what the interior looked like. was it a barren interior or like 911 gt3 with carpet and only front seats?

Have you tried to search for it here?
I recall there being several different photos of those interiors over the years.
I may even have a few saved...will check and post if I do!
have fun...sounds like a neat project !

Do a search on Derek Bell and his cars. I recall reading an article within the last 2 years (I think it was in one of the European car magazines that you can usually get at Barnes & Nobe) They showed Derek Bell with his red 924 Carrera GT. If I remember correctly, much of the interior on the street version looked like a stock 924. But you should probably do some searching for pix, just to be sure.

Vague lookalike, possible... replica, no. Countless unobtanium parts.

Do it! As V said, you won't get it exact, but you will end up with a cool car if you do it well.
I've got some of the body work on my 924S, I wasn't going for a replica, just a fun track car.

the school i go to is in exton, PA, it's universal tech institute.
thanks for those pics, i'm guessing that if the gts was pretty much barren interior, then a gtp would have nothing but gauges and a seat. but since it'll be street legal in the USA i have to have some things by law
