How many hours to replace front sealed unit shocks with Koni adjustables (yellows)
Just wondering how long it took everyone else to do... I am thinking about doing it this weekend. Need to plan.

Thaddeus,
Not sure what year you have, but mine is an 85.5 and it was fairly straight forward since I didn't have to cut the struts apart. To remove the old assemblies, clean and paint, and install the new Struts, Weltmeister springs, and associated new peices took about 4 hours total.
If I didn't have to wait for the paint to dry, it would have been about 2 hours.
Important tip: Before you start, be sure to have a 7mm L-shaped allen wrench and a 24mm deep-dish bent box-wrench. Without these, removal and installation is near impossible. Don't forget the spring compressors as well...
Email me if you have any questions.

Tifosiman,
You say 24mm, Paragon's tech session says 22... Is there a difference between our cars? Which is correct? I have a 1987 951...
Dang, gotta stop at Sears now...

OOPS! You're right, 22mm is correct. My bad. But make sure it is the deep/bent one, a standard box-wrench will do you no good. Since you have an '87, you'll also have the joy of cutting your old struts for the inserts as well...

For those of you with more cash than time, Paragon is now offering to "do the work" for $100 a pair. They can do this with a core charge or using your existing units. Price includes drilling, cutting, and preparation with paint in yellow or black (custom colors extra).
I borrowed an old set of front struts from "mad george" the other day that I'll be sending in to have the work done. Once I've got the new units on, I'll give my originals to George to replace the ones I borrowed. Thus saving the dreaded core charge.

Keith, we've got prebuilt units in stock ready to ship - the cores are due back within 30 days... downtime is now "all you"
Shipping in spares is certainly an option, but ultimately costs you the core charge (or, shipping in your case) - unless you sell your cores.
I've got a fresh can of fluorescent pink, ready and waiting for you!
