Default Fair Price for a '84 944 Transaxle with LSD?

Help me out... I'm a 928 guy but I'm jumping on the 944 forum to tap the knowledge of my Rennlist brothers. I have a transaxle out of an '84 944 (trans code: 8Q) with a LSD... what's a fair price? Going to have it for sale at Hershey on the 25th and need to know it's fair market value... then I'll sell it for less than that just to get rid of it.

$20, i'll even pay express shipping.

I have seen them go $600-800.. it's the turbo LSD's that are the big $$$. Anyone else want to chime in on a market value?

About $900-1000 with decent mileage based on eBay completed sales last 6 months. Adjust price up or down based on mileage and condition.

Rennlisters like to pay less, eBayers seem obliged to pay more!

Yes we 944 spec racers are the onlyl going after the NA LSD's. Prices posted in this thread are reasonable.

Default Checking actual Trans for codes

Where do I look to check the code on my transaxle? 1985.5 Window sticker says I have an LSD trans...but the PO rambled off quite a few details ..new clutch, new clutch master, a book of reciepts...(while I was shaking) right before I handed him some money...and might have mentioned that the rear end came out of an 87. Any Ideas to verify?

He may have meant a replacement rear suspension piece... I was a little too excited to ask a coherent follow up question. I think I only paid for the tires and gas in the tank.

Jack the rear of the car up and spin one wheel. If the other wheels spins the same way you've got LSD...if it spins the opposite direction you probably don't (you might and it just has a worn out clutch..you'd have to look at the tranny code to know for sure)

Thats why I saved it . But I will still probably put it into another transmission rather than sell it.

You can ask for twice that and then some.

Ok, maybe I'll bump the price up am little - but I don't want to come home from Hershey with any of the parts I arrived with so it's going to be priced to sell. If any of you are interested in the LSD trans come find me at Hershey, I'm in row 'B' with a banner (the banner is my current avatar so you know what to look for) I will have the trans right out front... come at get it. Also, I have a ton more 944 parts also being sold for well under market value, everything must go. I post some parts are prices this evening in case there's anything you're interested.

If you are selling a working LSD transmission for $375 and are willing to ship, I will gladly pay shipping also and buy it just to let it sit around. Put it on ebay and get market value for that thing.
