Default Got a Spin Tech Muffler. Survey Says?

Finally got my exhaust on (mostly) and am moving forward with this car. I currently have 3" LR piping and opted for my own muffler instead of using one from LR. Muffler of choice? Spin Tech, Super Pro Street. I gotta say. I'm saddend.

The exhaust sounds great, but I wasn't thinking when I bought everything, thus I bought the most aggressive street muffler they make. So you can assume how little muffling I really get. It basically changed the tone. I'm gonna roll with it though. I will be getting a pre-muffler to compensate. My only issues with the sound are the shear decible levels and the tone I'm getting when I let off at higher RPM and a couple other places in the rev-range.

I should have gone with a more conservative unit, but this will do. I just need to get something to help quiet it down just a little. I'm thinking a Moroso Spiral Flow, since it will provide minimal restriction and has no packing to blow out. That way I'll know I don't have to worry about the car getting a lot louder or nastier later on. Plus, just as the Spin Tech's, all the clips that I've heard with Spiral Flows sound great.

For the time being, I don't even have the muffler on. I need to get everything welded up, so it's just straight pipe. I'm excited though. I like jumping into something new!

That's awesome. I almost went with a Spintech many many times on my S3, but I could never bring myself to do it because I did not know what it would sound like on a 4 banger. On my buddy's built Z28, it was amazing. But that's a V8. Post some videos, I'd love to hear it.

I'm going to possibly get it finished up on Friday. BTW, anybody that says a turbo silences an exhaust is full of ****. When this thing is on, the straight pipe might as well be branded as a megaphone. It's ridiculous! And when my WG opens up, my car sounds like an A10 on a strafing run!

I think my problem is I find the inherant sound of a 4 cylinder offensive. Our larger 4 bangers do a better job with sound, but there is still that... tone. But remember, I've been around V8's all my life, with my family being avid fans of GM's. I'm the black sheep amongst my related gearheads.

Also, I know it's pointless, but I'd be willing to get a cam just to mask the tone with a little lope. I LOVE a 4 cylinder in the high RPM's, like 9 and 10k, due to the almost Indy and F1 sound. Too bad these motors don't rev up all that much.

I enjoy mine as well. Its much more muffled than my old flowmaster. It actually has a great tone to it now that interior is back in the car

Pre-mufflers are good at canceling resonance. Which is the exact reason why I run one.
