Default 1985 Porsche 944 cabriolet

I was throwing out some old magazines I had stored in the loft and came across this motor show picture of the 1985 Bauer conversion on the Porsche stand.I have seen pic's of it in books but never a good close up of the back end. It's a little different to the A.S.C conversion that eventually won through to production in 1989.Name: porsche cab pic 1985 (Large).jpg

I have not seen this before. I like the rear, it seems a little smoother in the quarter pannels and the deck lid is really nice. The only thing is it doesn't look like they changed the windshield from the coupe and looks a bit to high.

I doubt they did change the windshield angle; a friend has an ASC Turbo, same deal, about the only way to tell it apart at a distance is if it's parked next to an S2 Cab. Doesn't really look that bad, it's mostly the angle of the photo that accentuates the windshield angle IMO.

If they built a cab with a rear like that, I would have one. I just hate the lines on the production cab rear, 968 included.

i think bauer and asc in this case are the same company in that they worked together. i recently read a long article on the founder of asc. he got his start installing a german sunroof which i think was bauer. if i didnt delete the link from the email at home i will post it here.

edit, it wasnt bauer, it was golde. here is the article.

There never was a factory build Cab.
