Who wants their steering intermediate shafts rebuilt?

I did read the link. It didn't answer my question tho unless I missed it, will a 924 rack with a 924 shaft fit a 968? I have a 924 rack I'd like to use so I'd assume a. 924 shaft will fit.? I was just stating that I was unaware that they were even different until. I saw your link

I know adapters exist to mount the 944 power steering rack on the 924 crossmember. I imagine you could make a reverse of that product. But as the rack comes stock, no it will not fit a 968/944.
The 924 shaft is about 1.25" longer than the 944 manual shaft, so they won't mix.

I made a swap shaft for this mod long ago but never saw how the guy modded the rack to fit the X-member. IIRC I thought he said it had a better manual ratio.
Being 1.25" longer would get the main shaft set more towards the drivers side making swap headers more clearance.

I'll check it out on no 968 x member. I picked up a 924 rack in ebay for 35 bucks and would love to make it work since so much money will be going into this build already I'd love to save a few hundred on the rack

I hear ya, my next swap will be a LS3 lightweight. I would like to confirm the early 924 rack ratio before I go the the boneyard. They are easy to spot as the mounts are welded onto the steel housing. You could grind them off and reweld new ones to match X-member.

If it's that simple consider it done! I will do that first then hunt for an intermediate shaft

Tough to tell in the photo of the shafts but the U joint its self looks to have a smaller bearing cup. IE the hole in the yoke is smaller. Is that correct or is that just the photo playing tricks on me. My supplier of U joints has about 10 different sizes so if it is smaller I wonder if I can get them.
BTW the shafts for the manual rack on the 944 are VERY hard to get these days. I don't have any cores and have been looking for one to keep on hand. If some one wants to part with one that needs rebuilding let me know.
At the moment the only way I can get my hands on one is to purchase it with the entire rack as most people don't want to separate them and that is $350 +/-
