Will either/both these fit a 1990 944 S2?
Set of four Boxster S (986) "twists", 17in genuine Porsche wheels.
Front : 7in offset 55mm
Rear : 8.5in offset 50mm
or how about these:
Genuine factory Porsche Boxster alloy wheels and tyres, 17 x 9.5 (2), 17 x 8 (2), with centres, suit all 993 and 996 models, [...]

Mark,
I have Boxster twists on my S2 - 7 x 17 et 55 on the front and 9 x 17 et 52 which fit well. The 7s are a bit narrow for the 225/45 fronts - I would prefer 8 inch fronts. For the rear the 9s are perfect for 255/40 tyres, although I think 8.5 would probably be OK (8.5 inch is the min width for a 255 tyre). The 7's fit under the guard with plenty of room, but the 9s are pretty tight. You will need to watch the offset for a 9.5 inch wheel - although if the offset is correct I know these will fit.

even if the wheels fit, you may not be happy with the tire choices.
if you stuff a 225 on the 7s, you will want to go thinner on the rears with a 245. if you put the better looking 255s on the rear you will have more understeer. i played with a few sets of boxster rims and ended up going back to the stock 16s. the car just drives better with four tires the same size. my 951S has the 7/9 setup and i dont like it.

Interesting. I'm running 225/45/17 and 255/40/17 on the S2 at the moment... I quite like the handling, but I've not compared to the stock set-up.
BTW, stock (on my S2, at least) was 205/55/16 and 225/50/16, on 7" and 8" rims.
I was toying with the idea of getting a second set of wheels for track. The two sets of Boxster wheels are available for sale at the local club.

Will Boxster S (986) "twists", 17in genuine Porsche wheels fit on an '87 951. They should since the suspension and brakes on an s2 are the same as a Turbo.
Is this correct thinking?

The 968CS came standard with 225/45 and 255/40 17's and I don't recall anyone saying that these have any significant understeer. I guess it really depends on the suspension setup. I have adjustable rear sways and can get the handling fairly neutral - however the 225s do move a bit more than I'd like on the 7's hence my thoughts that 8's (which I think the 968CS had) would be better.
my 951S has staggered and i dont like it as much as four of the same. significant? that's been debated to death here. my post was just an FYI because in retrospect, i was not fond of the boxster setup i had on two of my 944s, and prefer the same size all around. YMMV.

Which boxster wheels came with 9.5" and 8" sizes? I want those!
