Yes, big surprise but if they work it will cut 8-10 hours off the job...wonder what they cost?
Whatever they cost, I'm sure it's well worth it to a dealership or specialty shop - at least back in the day. Even though I'm not sure it's 8-10 hours - is that really book on a head R&R? I thought it was more like 4-6 on an NA.

I'm 61 so my own shop time is always doubled for various reasons such as
I'm realistic also and figure some bolt ,stud, or coolant fitting will always break plus cleaning the old gasket material is a real PIA.
These suspension parts on these big trucks are heavy as hell...my back is killing me. Time for a few Stella Artois' and Motrin.
i have a 93 aerostar and every time i climb underneath it i am shocked at how big and sturdy the suspension pieces are, especially the front arms...hasn't gone wrong in 150,000 miles

Hmmm...more special tools. Big surprise.
during my engine rebuild i borrowed a neat tool from john anderson (used to be on here but a few transaction mistakes gave him a bad name, really good guyu though) that bolted to the head in place of the cam cover and had a lever on a slide that had an attachment that you used to compress the springs. i had my engine totally apart but there is no reason it couldnt be used with the engine still together...ill see if i can get ahold of him and maybe get pics
