03/13/09 - Friday the 13th!

I am starting to see the light. Went to the shop today. Tested the S2 motor to see how healthy it was. To my shock - amazingly healthy. 165-175 for compression numbers and the leakdown on the cylinders were all within spec. AMAZING for a 147K motor. Wow.

Then I sold it.

J3 has the new torque tube in place. They even painted it for me! As for my old one, I was dead on. The forward bearing are very noisy and definitely shot. Good call on my part by replacing it.

Here are more photos from today:

Seats are in.

Torque Tube - Oooo...pretty.

Bushings are in:

Will your project finish in time for the April 25-26th PCA DE at Road Atlanta? I'll be there with an almost identically prepared '89 S2 in group 3!

I am not sure at this point. There's a chance, but I won't make any bets. I usually run in Group 4/5 depending on how mag folks are running in either group.

If the car is not ready, I'll still stop by to say hello...

Brey Krause lowering brackets. I may even do what you did and remove the sliders from my seat.

B-A-D A-S-S. Please keep updating this thread - awesome. I'm catching up ALL the "deferred maintenance" on a tired 100K S2, and every time I start feeling tired of it I come searching for your thread - very inspirational! My car may not ever be a dedicated track car, but it's fun to watch your project and see what could be. Thanks!
