Default With all the talk about the AFM / MAF...

I thought I'd ask a question that's been bothering me for sometime.

On my '89 S2 race car there are a pair of radiator hoses that go into the back side of the AFM (?)/ throttle body.
The only thing I can think of as to why Porsche would do something like this is to help get the car warm on cold days.

However, on a race car I can't imagine any benefits and in fact I can see that by warming the incomming air it would actually be detremental to making the max HP possible.

A friend with the exact car has disconnected his and I'm wondering if this is beneficial (he is faster than me )

Here's a pic with my son showing the hoses in question.

They are definetely radiator hoses as the hose on the lower right goes to the radiator overflow tank...

that is mainly for cars in very cold climates- for a race car- or a street car that doesnt see cold weather often- just put a jumper line between them and connect the hoses w/o the throttle body. Seen it done no biggie.

You can bypass the hoses (connect them together with a barbed fitting) but do the 2 outer hoses. That middle hose is not for coolant.

It's to keep the throttle body from freezing closed in cold temps...many cars have them.
