Post Happy Birthday - Rennlist Forums!

Yup, it's been a year already - since the switch to this format [UBB] that is. Since the sun's shining, and it's almost Friday - though some of you might like to relive your most memorable moments on Rennlist over the last year.

My personal favorites are the success updates and "who I am" stuff [helps puts a personality with the disorder ]

HAPPY 1st BIRTHDAY RENNLIST FORUMS!!! Thanks, John! <img src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" />

Thumbs up

The most hilarious Rennlist post, EVER:

There's some crazy stuff out there... and this is just the car parts:

I think this'd be a great picture for a caption contest... something like: "Bob and Danny are walking through the rain forests adjacent to the Saulk River, when this prehistoric Porsche bone appears in the low brush. They are cautious not to touch it, as they are known to have mystical forces - evil even - similar to that of the buried remains of several sets of snap-ring pliers found near Deception Pass in Northwest Washington."

Really... all I want is a tranny... but there's SO much stuff on there <img src="graemlins/jumper.gif" border="0" alt="[jumper]" /> <img src="graemlins/oops.gif" border="0" alt="[oops]" />

The old forums had their days too. We sure did have some wars on it.

Serious, I thought when we made the switch that the new format would not lend itself to good discussion. Thank god John did not listen to me!

3 Cheers for John, Jen, and everyone (you too) that makes this list so great.

Been a great year! I've been fallowing this board for 2 years now and I'm glad they made the switch a year ago. I used to only come here once in a while, was too hard to follow thread in the old format, IMO.

See ya later guys, time to get to a bachlor party!!

Wow - I was posting the thread above (the DE at the Glen and saw this thread..)...

First - my thanks to all of you who have made this forum such a terrific place....

And second (little did you know...).....

It was four years ago this weekend that a little e-mail list server hit the "airwaves" and "Porschelist" was born. That list had 5,000 folks after a few weeks on a 56KB partitioned internet connection and was only an e-mail list server, without even a web presence...

Now - it is Rennlist - and still it is just Jen and I part time - but the hardware has changed a bit.. Two T1s, 12 dedicated servers, routers, gateways, lots of custom programming - and about 150,000 visits per day - 12,000,000 e-mails sent in 24 hours, and web forums that keep on growing..

Yep - this week - Rennlist (born: "Porschelist") begins its fifth year of operation...

Simply amazing.....

And my thanks are to all of you....

I've still got a Porschelist sticker on my car and the long sleeve shirt with Porschelist written down the arm.
Man I feel old.

You mean the number of folks that are "subscribed" or "registered" to use Rennlist - like the e-mail lists, Forums, etc.?? Here is a quick breakdown...

The site takes about 125,000 - 150,000 unique visitors per day (less on a weekend tho' - as most people are out driving )

On the forums, we have slightly over 7,500 "registered users" - but if you look at the logs, there are about 5-6 "lurkers" for each registered user who read the Forums - so lets call that roughly 35,000 - 40,000 who surf in these forums...

On the e-mail lists, I have 82,000 registered e-mail accounts, but some of them are "double" subscribed with a home account along with their company account - so a conservative guess is about 61,000 - 62,000 unique individuals.

In the Classifieds, we have posted about 50,000 ads from 32,000+/- unique e-mail addresses and the Classifieds section takes about 15,000 site hits per day...

Hmmm - OK that's roughly 130,000 folks in just the major sections of the site..??

Oh - for paying Rennlist Members (not including "Lifers")- in the last couple of weeks, we just hit 2,000 which equates to about $36,000 a year - *if* everyone were to renew or pay the invoice when they initially join and asked to be billed, but historically, fall-out is about 15% - so the actual number is probably closer to 1,750 folks or $30,000 per year... Now you know why I still have my "day job"..

Hope this helps!

In the words of the famous "Ron Weasley" (ask your children if you don't know ) , "Bloody Hell!"

I've never really thought about it in detail but can honestly say I never figured those kind of numbers and am genuinely impressed John!

Bravo and thanks for everything!... <img src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" />
