Default Anyone know Honda engines?

Sorry this is a bit , but -- anyone know if Honda engines are generally interference design? I was trying to find this out using a google search (specifically for a 4-cyl 98 Accord), but surprisingly, it returned a lot of contradictory answers to what should be a simple yes/no question.

Hopefully without revealing the extent of my prejudices, I think I'm more likely to get an informed answer asking in this forum than in a Honda forum.

If you don't want to publicly reveal that you know Hondas so intimately, I understand -- please PM me!

1998 Honda accord came with the F23, which is interference.

FWIW, my understanding is that pretty much EVERY non-turbo engine sold in recent years IS an interference design, regardless of manufacturer. Also most recent turbo engines are interference designs as well.

I used to have a tractor that had the valves in the block... Clearly not an interference engine. It was 4 cylinder, about the size of a 944 engine, and made 19 HP.

I had a 95 with the F22 in it. It was an interferance engine too. If you haven't yet, try accordinglydone.com. Was a pretty good site for the 4th, 5th and 6th gens. I think it's slowed down a lot though.

Here's something fun:

Toyota engines use a timing chain if interference design, and a belt if non-interference.

If that doesn't say it all, I don't know what does...

i only wish i could put my honda engine into my 944. with a Honda CRV K24 2.4L stock bottom end and my K20A2's awesome breathing head, I'd get 250whp out of the box. Slap on a M90 blower for 10psi and I'd be good for 350 at least.

Which is great, but a lot of Toyota engines are iron blocks.

You'll need to upgrade the brakes, the drivetrain, yada yada... cheaper in the end to buy a new tractor.
