Dexcool Is it good for our cars?
I know Ford and GM are using this becuase it lubricates the waterpump. Is this the best coolant out there for us or is there something better for our 944's

the two most recent car and driver's had an editorial about this. only cars that came factory fill with dexcool should be given that. It was written that it is too harsh for the older radiators which may have weaker solder.
they recommend the green stuff, whatever brand or the new Zerex G-05 organic type, which has yet to hit store shelves in some areas but is the daimlerchrysler factory fill and is safe for older cars. I will stick with the green and change at least every 2 yrs. Either way, go 50/50 with AF and distilled H2o

If this solution is designed for aluminium, why would it not be the best product for our aluminium block, head and radiator? On the product designation, it doesn't make any claim that it shouldn't be used with older radiators.

Well, like the man said....
Back in the day, they used a different solder, possible with a different metals content than current standards. The orange kind may be to harsh on these metals, causing corrosion and possibly solder joint failure.
Better safe than sorry. Do you always believe the labels on stuff you buy?

<img src="graemlins/icon107.gif" border="0" alt="[icon107]" /> For what its worth, I called PCNA and they referred me to my local dealer who told me they use an Audi/VW antifreeze called Autobahn(?) for the front engine water cooled Porsches. It's kinda a blue color
