engine price

Andre:
Be very careful when buying a "good used engine". From my recent experience, there is no such thing. But, I could be wrong.
Around Christmas, I bought a 70k mile engine with turbo, etc. for $2,000 plus freight. The seller said it was beautiful. Before purchasing it, I spoke with the shop that had maintained the car and removed the head for inspection. "It is a beautiful motor, well maintained. The bottom end is perfect."
When I got it, the bores looked scuffed, the oil pan gasket was split and siliconed to death. So, I decided to pull the pistons and inspect the rings. Ring end gaps of 1.5 mm, out of round bores, etc., etc. It was worn out. When I confronted the seller he did not believe me and said it was beautiful, "just slap in new rings like everybody else" and refused to take it back.
Live and learn. My advice is to forget used.
Call Ian at Ian's Europarts in Pompano, FL. He has an exchange program for these engines. If I remember right it was around $2,700 exchange, plus shipping. It is a deal. Of course, I learned this after starting down the wrong road twice. I would have spent less and have a running car now.

I can't speak for Ian's on engines, but everything else he sells was as promised. he even called me when my car caught on fire to say he was sorry, now how many places will do that. (Tim from Speedforce was also very kind and gave me a lead or two on replacement cars).
But I agree with Keith, I have been listening to his story from the begining, and unless you can get the motor torn down and inspected before you get it make sure that don't spend every cent you had on the used motor.
There is a 89 Turbo S motor for sale on ebay, I don't know if that is an option for you, but just thought I would point it out.
