Anyone still on the original clutch?
Was wondering if people would be kind enough to post when they had to replace their rubber centered clutch (model, miles, year). I am still original @ 82k (85.5 n/a) but replacing the master/slave this week. Obviously there is no exact science...just curious. Time to start putting money away....
Thanks,
BO

The '83 that dad and I own jointly has original clutch, rubber has recently failed - I can tell it's banging on the tabs. He did drive on an intact 83 rubber clutch for at least a couple years though.
Funny thing is, I have a rubber clutch from a parts car that is in PRISTINE shape - sometimes I get the crazy idea to throw it into that '83 mentioned above and use it up..........

My '90 S2 Cab just had it's rubber centered clutch replaced last week. 136,000 miles. Spring centered on car now. Paid $2800 for new clutch and motor mount replacement. Factory Porsche parts, independent mechanic.

Still original at ~150k miles
The most recent 20-30k miles are almost entirey one form or another of 'high performance' activity, i.e. either:
1) towing a trailer to/from the track/event
2) Autocross (typically launch around 4k at the start of each run)
3) DE

Showing how different it can be. I have two 944's. One I am the original owner of and the clutch went out in November 1999 with 82,000 miles on the car. The other car I bought exactly one year ago with 155,000 miles on it and the clutch went up for the first time at about 157,000 miles.
