Post 9xauto dash kit

I was thinking about ordering the silver dask kit that 9xauto sells for the 944 (i have read alot of not so nice things about 9xauto here but i dont know anywhere else with the silver dask kit) anyway my question is: does anyone have a picture of this kit installed in their car? and do you know if it will perminantly mess up my dash if i decide to take it off one day?

here is a link to what im talking about:

If you are going to go that route...Save yourself some money and take the pieces off carefully. primer, Paint and Laquer the plastic pieces. You will save money and it will look a lot better. This is what Prestige is selling. 9xAuto has paints designed specifically for plastic. There was another 944 recently that had all the Prestige upgrade parts. Save the money and do it yourself it will look just as nice.

thanks alot for that link, thay have alot of cool things there (i want to redo my whole interior with the silver pieces)

their prices on some stuff is also better than 9xauto... everything that 9xauto has i have found much cheaper at other places, i get the impression that they just buy their stuff from other stores and sell it with marked up prices

Hey Sandoval,
Do you have any pics of that roll bar in your cab? Did you have to remove the rear trim panels to install it? If you don't mind, how much was it?

I think you are right about 9XX just buying from someone else, they sell a "sprocket tool" for $60. I bought the same wrench at ACE hardware for $9.95 retail and spent $.40 on the 2 pins. I had to drill the holes for the pins which took about 5 minutes but it saved me $50

Re Sprocket Tool.
You are right. We sell sprocket tool and belt tension gauge for $65 - two items as a set. The tool it self is cheap. However, we custom-made stainless steel prongs for it. We also drill, thread, and test this wrench.

Holy cow 9xauto is getting in...

It's about time. Maybe they can help put to rest the bad press they have been getting...?

This is for Dan

Dear Dan

<a href="http://www.prestigeparts.co.uk" target="_blank">www.prestigeparts.co.uk</a>
... Is a good source for your parts since prices are in English Pounds- which are considerably more expensive than dollars. That is why it looks so cheap. Also, I do not know, how you are going to use "right sided" interior parts on your "left-sided" car?

9x...

Not a good way to win customers.

Also, here's how:

"Lacquered silver dash panel kit, comprising of 7 individual pieces. Available for both RHD & LHD"

Are the laquered pieces from prestige actual dash pieces or just stick-on pieces that the other dash kits offer?

seems to be that at prestige they are dash pieces insted of just stick on.

9x: after converting the pounds to american dollars the price for their dash (which is available in right hand or left hand as someone pointed out) and the price of the gear surround it comes out to about the same price (although they have more options like the matching door locks and handles which would bring up the price...), when i commented on prices i didnt mean this kit (since they are obviously 2 different products) i actually meant things like the center console cd holder which prestige has for approx. $20 less (after converted to us dollars), the antenna booster you sell (which i bought from crutchfield for 1/2 the price), your throttle cam which i bought for less from preformance products, and some other small things.... im not trying to put you down in any way i was just commenting on some prices and some bad press i have seen, infact there are things at your store i would like to buy still(there is a shift **** that i like form your store and as long as i have your attention... is the waterslide decal you include going to peel off?)

again i didnt mean to put you down at all i was just looking for other options and i am sorry if i came off wrong.
btw... another thing i was looking for was a photo of the dash kit, which prestige has on their site and when i e-mailed 9x for a photo i got a one line response saying it will look good.

anyway, assuming that i get some feedback on that water slide decal situation i look forward to buying a shift **** from 9xauto sometime soon (maybe under a different name just incase i pissed you off with my rennlist posts)

Dan,
I don't think you have anything to be sorry about. I know I look for the best deal I can find, especially with the 300-400% markups we see on many parts. I use this forum for
If 9XAUTO wants business from the people on these forums they may want to tone down their MATTER OF FACT ATTITUDE! I ,for one, thank you for prompting 9xauto's post. I'm not one to flame people, but if 9x wanted your business I don't think they should be trying to catch flies with salt. I believe honey is what you use.

I guess I should have been more specific with 9XX auto and their wrench as yes it does come with a tension gauge, also known as a "KR-1" from NAPA, $10.36 including tax. So I guess that adds up to about $22.00 versus their $65, yes any business deserves a profit, I learned that while getting my MBA. But, how come when I called them about buying the tool they were out od stock on the tension gauge but still were selling them on E-bay? Does that mean if they don't come in they wouldn't ship them as promised? Sounds flaky to me but what do I know, I am only a customer
