Default Early car, relocating AC controls?

For those of you with early cars that remove the AC **** and put a gauge in there, what did you use to retain the fan control? My car doesn't have A/C anymore but I like having that switch for the good airflow (alot more flow than the fresh air **** which I will not be touching).

I would think that a 4-position switch mounted somewhere on the console would work but I'm not sure considering all the funky wiring that goes on behind the dash...

did you have to eliminate one of the fan settings? keep in mind by 4-position i mean off, 1, 2 and 3 settings

I would guess that you would not need a button for off. If you do not use the rear wiper switch you could route all three (speeds 1, 2 and 3) to buttons where the rear wiper and two dummys are next to the mirror selector.

You could go the early 924 route...they have a slider for the fan control.

This sounds like a good excuse to buy something from the12voltguy.com. He's got all kinds of switches and other cool stuff. You could even mount a multi position switch in the glove box or under the seat if you wanted to hide it.

I think the real question is 'what type of gauge are you putting in place of the fan control ****?'.

Could probably just extend the wires going to the stock switch, and move it somewhere else. Easier than trying to reverse engineer it and find a switch thatll work.

the thing with that is that the early ac **** has a monster electrical connector on the back of the switch (this thing is huge) and i dont know if it would fit anywhere else.
