Default WTB - 951 Oil Cooler Housing

I'm finally getting my 944S back together. One of my to-do items is dumping the stock oil cooler for an external unit.

Anyone have one lying around on the cheap?

Side question - any reason why I cannot use this same location to tap in for an accusump?

Thanks!

Hey Hacker, I have one with oil lines and adapters down in Madison off my '89 turbo.
I have it listed in the member to member classifieds under 'Misc 944 turbo parts FS'
I just bumped it to the top.

I need the housing that goes onto the block more then I need the lines or the cooler.

I'm using an aftermarket cooler so I'm pretty sure I'll end up making custom lines.

I have a housing in good shape. Does not have any of the threaded inserts that the hoses screw onto though. It's bare, no OPRV or anything. LMK by PM please.

Where did you get a housing without the thread inserts? Did they come that way?

I purchased another housing from a 'Lister that came with the OPRV for dirt cheap. All I needed was the OPRV out of it, so this is how the filter housing came to me.

The threaded inserts for the 951 oil cooler hoses are separate pieces that thread into the oil filter housing. So, it would be possible for them to have been removed at some time during the housing's life.

I had to do this to the one that I put on my race car, in order to add the appropriate size/shape fittings for the Aeroquip ends that I used on my lines, and it's possible that somebody would have had to do the same thing on another housing, too, if they didn't want to use the stock lines.

Gary. that's what I was thinking. So this housing would be perfect for the OP's use since he is adding an oil cooler IMO.

I agree. It’s likely that any non-factory line setup will need different fittings than the stock setup used, anyway, so this solution would seem to work well. I’m assuming that the OP has access to a source for such fittings, which pretty much any race shop should be able to furnish if they can’t be found online somewhere.

With this setup I'm using stock fittings at one end crimped onto new lines with AN fittings on the other side.

So.....if anyone has some crappy lines lying around
I'll see if mj951 still had his.
