Default checking fuel pressure

I'm checking my fuel pressure with the engine running and it's 31psi, the book said to remove the vacuum line at the pressure regulator and the pressure should go up to around 39psi. Well the pressure did go up but gas started to come out of the vacuum side of the regulator. Is this normal, it does'nt seem right.

Yep. And since the leaking fuel gets sucked into your intake system, it causes all sorts of off-mixture symptoms (surging stumbling, hard start, etc).

Also , you might want to to do a vacuum check on the dampner too. Bruce
