Default never before seen part...

bought an aftermarket hatch yesterday, it came with this weird taillight that i can't find anywhere (that i know to look) and i've never actually seen before on a car...

p/n: 951.631.060.00

p.s. it looks similar to the 968 rear 3rd taillight, but the number is different, when i looked the number up on pelican it came up with a special order only part with no description and no picture...anyone know where to get one in good shape?

968 91-95 DC Auto has them for $154.95, Vertex has them for $144

Goes under the Spoiler on the 968 tail...

Maybe it's a part number from the Euro S2/951 which came with the 968 style wing from the factory.

i thought it looked like it, but i really wasn't sure since it only came up on pelican as a specialty part. I took this one apart and it looks pretty beat up...very corroded, plus it doesn't work...anybody have one i might be able to pick up cheap(er)?

If you don't want that one anymore, what do you want for it?

Yeah it's weird, the 968 3rd brake light has a 951 p/n.

No, it's 968 only. You cannot use the 968 hatch with that 3rd brake light on a 944/951/S2, because it gets in the way of the keyhole. (Otherwise it fits' 100%)

On 968's, the hatch keyhole is 2 inches lower to accomodate that 3rd brake light.

Not exactly. It had a wing similar to the 968, but did not have the lower trim piece which housed the third brake light that the 968 has. As it was pointed out above, while you can mount a 968 hatch with third brake light on the 944, you will have to cut your key head in half, or use the electric hatch release, as the key hole is too close to the lower trim piece on a 968 hatch.

Strosek is aftermarket, all their mods were post Factory....

I'll assume he picked up the strosek rear hatch off craigslist a little while ago, but I could be wrong...

I run a 968 hatch with the third brake light on my S2. I just don't use the key to open the hatch.
