Post adjusting rear ride height

Could someone give me the details on raising the ride height on the rear of the car. I would like to raise it about 1/2" if possible. Thanks

You have to reindex the torsion bars, it is not impossible, it does have a high pita factor....

Ian,

Sure that is a way, but I have heard that there are some adjusting bolts or something back there.

On my '89 Integra (T-bars in the front) you had ONE nut on each bar that had to be turned to adjust the height. I had never heard the term "re-index" until I owned a Porsche- but I DO know, that ALL the Integra people I spoke w/would say "man, you're really in for a hell of a job trying to adjust those"- some shops didn't even know how to do it!!! So when I found out how simple it was, well, let's just say I think sometimes people exxagerate. The Porsche T-bars can be adjusted w/the nuts- but, from what I understand, they can only be adjusted a small amount, like MAYBE an inch, but I only adjusted my Integra's ~1/2", and I doubt I could have gotten more than another 1/4" out of it that way- maybe they would have needed re-idexing too. So, it depends on how much you're talking about- if you've added helper springs for instance, then chances are (AGAIN, from what I've heard) you'll have a much larger range of adjustment to deal with. Anyway- if I keep my car (in other words- if it doesn't sell in the next few months) then I'll find out for sure, as I'll be adding larger t-bars myself...

BTW- my 951 has to be back at the mechanic's in the next week or so (imagine that!), so I'll ask him to show me where they are EXACTLY, and if you haven't found out by then, then I'll let you know...

There is a write up in the tech sessions area on rear ride height. I just dropped mine not hard but did take an impact wrench to loosen the nuts

Here's the direct link to the article you're referring to: <a href="http://www.tech-session.com/Paragon/Tech/944_rrha.htm" target="_blank">944 Rear Ride Height Adjustment</a>.

You'll need a large Crescent wrench, or the specific 24mm and 36mm open wrenches for the bolts. You'll also want a 24mm socket and ratchet for the nuts.

That said, the adjusters/eccentrics can be in any position right now - in most cases they are full high (meaning you will not be able to get more lift), so lowering is more easily attained.

Did you index too low? Or, are you rallying

Good Luck!
