Unfortunately it's called money. ask him how much it will take to drop what he is doing right now. most likley some one else has done this.. you get bumped.. ask how much extra to do yours right now? or next on his project list.. give half upfront.. half when you get it... most shops work on this concept.. good luck.

Here is a post from another list, you might want to talk to perry951 about his problems with Garrity.

Good Luck,

Not enought hours in the day to do what needed to be done...

Thanks everyone for the business over the years. I have truly appreciated it. As you may have heard from Rob Langley, I am shutting down my business in order to pursue other interests. I have wanted to go to medical school for some time now and the opportunity looks good now. As far as my business goes, I just couldn't do all the work by myself and my lousy delivery time demonstrated this fact. I did try to stand behind my products better than anyone else I know. I made a deal with another company to buy my inventory and help them out on a part time basis and be an employee of theirs. The projects that I have yet to finish will be finished as promised for the prices as promised. I am taking no more service work in order to finish these projects. That was one of the problems. My service business was pretty big. Consider that I did service, parts, manufacturing, machine work and building all myself. I was never a good manager and that I do recognize as a fault. I am always willing to anser questions for free, so please feel free to email me.

Thanks and I appreciate all the good years,

Garrity

God Bless man! I hear the worst stories pertaining to these cars- somtimes I even feel that mine has been par for the course I'm about to try to sell mine (Turbo S) b/c of all the probs I've had in the 2 1/2yrs I've owned it- I've got ~$22K in it and only paid $9K fot it, and haven't done any mods to it really...

Anyway, you are in a bind. The idea, as I'm sure you know, is to avoid pissing him off, but still get him to get it done in a reasonable amount of time- the amount of time you have spent has been ridiculous. If I were you, I would simply tell him I needed the car back in the next few days or so- otherwise, I would need to find another mechanic and for him to get it ready for pick up. It sounds shi**y, and it is, but he's left you w/little alternative, assuming you actually want the car at your disposal- now who in their right mind would want that?

Doing what I'm suggesting really depends on several things:

1. Why are you going to larger pistons and what size are you getting, etc? Do you HAVE to have them?
2. Has he ordered the pistons?
3. How far along is he? I mean, has he actually removed the engine or ANYTHING?
4. Have you actually given him ANY $$$ AT ALL?
5. Where is he located- is he close to you? If far away, you've got more probs...
6. Where else could (would) you take it? I'm thiking Jon Anderson or Turbo Tim, but they're in southern CA- You would have to contact them on the situation and work it all out, plus, there would be S&H. Got REAL $$$? You're not too far from Jon Milledge (Boston)....

Good luck, and let us know what happens- I'm really sorry to hear about your situation...
