You can use late offset wheels on an early car with spacers, but early on a late car doesn't really work.

I've seen it done on here, for example someone had early phone dials wrapped in snow tires on his 968. If you already have the rims just try bolting them up, and if they stick out too far there isn't much you can do short of swapping out everything for an early offset setup

You could trade the car for an early off-set one... I'm sure many people would take you up on it.

I'll take a shot, but I'm not sure if I've got everything you'd need:

Control and trailing arms
Hubs
Spindles

Unless the wheels are original Fuchs just sell your early offset wheels and get late offset

You can definitely put early offset Phone Dials or Cookie Cutter wheels onto a late offset 944 by simply running narrower tires like 205/50/15 or by getting an alignment done and have at least negative 1.5 degrees of camber on the front and rears.

I have a 1988 944 na that is my track car and my camber is -2.75 front and -2 rear and I fit 15x7 Cookie Cutter wheels with 225/50/15 Toyo RA1 tires without any rubbing at all. My car is also really low as it has an adjustable front coilover suspension and I dropped the rear torsion bars but swapping out to 30mm hollow bars and reindexing them. My car looks great as you can barely get 1 finger between the tire and fenderwell.

You can also fit late offset wheels onto early offset cars without spacers but it looks like crap because there is so much space between the tire and fenderwells.

Here is a picture of my car before I dropped the suspension down.

i have an 87 turbo and an early 85 na. the 7 front fuchs that i have dont fit on the front cuz they rub on the brake caliper. but the sevens fit fine on the rear with 215's. i might just have to do what litespeed did and put 205's with a 1/4 inch spacer up front.

So you want to put the fuchs off of your 85N/A on your 87 turbo?

You need 86 turbo spindles hubs and rotors as well as steering linkages. Does your car have ABS? That kind of plays with things. You also need the rear hubs from an 86 951 if you are wanting to keep the aluminum trailing arms, otherwise you could use the whole trailing arm assembly out of an older 944 with steel ones.

In summary, I would take the rear-ends out of both cars, swap your turbo torsion bars into your NA torsion tube setup as it has early offset. Then, buy my early offset 86 turbo spindles hubs and rotors, find a set of early offset tie rods, and you are jake, BUT you will never get 15's to fit over turbo calipers.

With all that hassle, why not buy a set of cool late offset wheels and leave the fuchs on the N/A? Or sell the Fuchs on the N/A, replace with cookies, and use that money to buy new wheels for the turbo?

You're correct. NA Fuchs are 15", turbo Fuchs are 16".

Not all N/A Fuchs' are 15's. 911 Fuchs' were also available in 16's and you could special order your 944 with them. And of course, we all know the 951 16" Fuchs' are not the same as the 911 16" Fuchs'. The 951 Fuchs are more carved out on the inside and the petals sit further outboard on the wheel, in order to clear the larger calipers.

I stand corrected! Useful when I put my 7/8 15" Fuchs off my '85 NA up for sale.
