Default Ring and Pinion replacment

Does anyone know of a company that makes replacement Ring and pinions for our cars?

I have an NA (with the NA LSD) and would like to get a different gear ratio. I understand I could buy a turbo or 968 trans., but I'd like to know if a place to buy trans parts exists.

Thanks,

No affiliation, however....

Ian's has them, in stock...

They can also do a trans tune up (new seals and bearings, and install the new R&P during the rehab...

Just a thought....Why not just swap and get a turbo, the rehab and new R&P would be over 2K with shipping....

if youre looking for speed, the NA and S have the highest numerical ratio of any of the cars. the turbos have the lowest which is good for mileage.

unless you want to have someone machine you a 4.10 or something..

...a lower ratio from a 951 or S2 will make an NA feel like a dog.

Ok, here's my full....incomplete thought lol

I'm contemplating the LSx swap. Now I'm fairly certain that my NA R&P will not like that very much. Plus, the gearing is much to low to hit any kind of top speed or get fuel mileage.

SO.... I'm thinking of maybe just a new R&P in my tranny, or maybe the 6 speed 968 tranny with a lower gear, so you could hit 198 mph, or cruise at 1600 rpm down the highway.

I shall check out the above links ... thank you for your help!

Dump the 968 idea. From what my guys at porschehybrids.com say, the 951 box with an NA 5th is the way to go. However, I prefer, and probably always will, the NA box. Great for the country drive with the nice 5th and really aggresive off the line with the perfect 2nd gear + 3rd gear. Unbelievable!

If you have an NA box, give it a shot first. You may just love it. Its nothing you have to mess with if youre doing the swap right off the bat.

I think the whole "delicate flower NA transaxle" came from those whose cars have been abused in the past and have broken down.

Revving up and dropping the clutch will be hard on ANY transaxle.

Plus...they are so cheap and easy to swap out. I'd keep it and try her on.
