Just for kicks, here are a few more pictures from when I was painting the new addition.
Yes that bay window is for the garage! (me and my uncle desiged and built the addition)
Back porch pistol range
The apple orchard
One thing we could do is start a drive from further east, then end in waynesville and have a campout and cookout type thing before driving home the next day.

Burning Brakes
i'd be willing to donate my stomping grounds...we're restoring a house in Queen Anne Maryland, gorgeous countryside, big front fields to park cars in, be happy to roast up some barbecue after a track day, or we could hit the Chesapeake or Ocean (~1 hour away) and then come back for some nice photo ops and some good burgers and dogs (and cold beer!) Might be able to organize with some of the other local guys around me (www.dorkiphus.net) to see if they would want in...
that sounds like a grand plan !!!!!
im definantly inn BTW for any east cost gtg. im 3/4 when attending rennlist gtg's so im go

We would need to run some roads around Waynesville, I know a great run from Waynesville to Hot Springs and also some other nice runs out more towards Hendersonvillle.

Tail of the Dragon in Robbinsville, NC anything near there, we can always make a run on it: The Dragon; 11 miles containing 318 curves. A legend, a challenge, an awesome experience.

Tail of the dragon is a total waste of time. Can anyone here tell me what is fun about it? So much better roads in the region. I know where a go-cart track is that offers better performance. Total waste of time and a good chassis like a Porsche is completely lost on this "legend". Total rice mecca.

Race Car
My favorite road for driving is Roebling. Not even close to pro racer. I just thought if so many people were interested in getting away, seeing some nice scenary that, in my opinion, there are better choices. If you like 20~30 mph second gear swithbacks over and over and over and o0ver and over and over....with a cop at the end writting tickets to every sports-car driver - your wasting a Porsche. Its worse than autocrossing. I would be happy to make suggestions. I just will not suggest people driving for hours to get to a remote stretch of PUBLIC road and then flog their car like some kind of wannbe pro-racer. Its not the kind of environment that is relaxing. In my opinion. Also when you get to the "tail" and people are bolting race rubber on their cars in the parking lot of the hotel, you need to take warning. It is a public road. I don't condone any kind of dick-head street racing of any flavor, do you?
I will go to Road Atlanta any day and learn to drive. I have been crew on many Porsche track cars for many years and no, I am not evan close to being "pro racer". Just my opinion.

If thats your car in your avitar, you would probably leave me standing. LOL
I really like the way that car looks. I can, but shouldn't, tell you how many times I have gone very fast in Atlanta - very fast. Watched the sun come up lots of times in that town.
We should really keep this thread alive as scheduling gets clearer.
I suggested the Sharks in the Mountains weekend up here. Those guys have a great event. I just think it would be appropriate to get in touch with them first. 928Specialist funds the social events and lots of the weekend themselves in appreciation for their customers. I would not want to disrupt their event.

i've always wanted to do the dragons tail, maybe i'll do it with the stealth and the 3000gt/ stealth national gathering this year. as for switchbacks, to me they are fun. i don't street race...anymore, but i enjoy driving the car with some force every once in a while.
i don't know that region. i do know the area of Danville, VA. it's about 5mins from VIR and 40mins from Martinsville(drag strip i believe also) i know great back roads, and it's a huge area, with plenty of places to eat, drink, and sleep. average speed limits on the back roads are 45-50, nothing to worry about for police as they stick to the highways.
